June 2013 travel edition Vellvette Bag review
Vellvette decided to send out bags this time. I'm all for this; the boxes get squashed in transit every time and are cumbersome. The bags are sturdy and decently-sized and can be used. That's +1 points.
Delivery was on the same day as most people; I wasn't home yesterday and it wasn't their fault the delivery guy got caught in the downpour. Score: 2.

The theme was travel. Not sure where the travel part is applicable in a sampling programme. Aren't all samples travel-worthy anyway? Unless they meant products from around the world, which is international-themed, not travel. No points awarded. Score: 2

What I got:
1. Toni & Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Shampoo - it says conditioner on the product card, but I got a shampoo. I'd rather have the conditioner.
2. LA Splash Glitter Eyeliner in Pacific Ocean
3. Just Herbs Advanced Pimple Treatment Kit
4. I love... Blueberry and Smoothie shower gel

June 2013 travel edition Vellvette Bag reviewToni & Guy shampoo: Contains both SLS and parabens. Doh! Didn't they send me a non-SLS, non-paraben shampoo last month in the organic box? Besides, who has curls here? And why tell me it's a conditioner and send a shampoo? Don't contradict yourself! Be consistent! Giving it to cousin. Subtracting two points here for wrong product and SLS, so score: 0
I love... Blueberry and Smoothie shower gel: Smells divine. I'll definitely try this out. Made by a Manchester-based firm. Score: +1
LA Splash glitter eyeliner: They sent me the blue as I wanted, though I'm not an over-glitter person especially with eyeliner. Trouble is, it doesn't stay - swiped it off within an hour of application and almost nothing remains. Going into my unwanted items section, swatched once. No points awarded or deducted

Pimple treatment kit: Love the jute bag, but who has pimples here? I get one or two spots around that time of the month, that's all. And I have my trusty BP for it. Giving it to schoolkid in the neighbourhood with the caveat that I'm not responsible even if her face falls off. I specifically told them I didn't have much by way of acne in my questionnaire. Subtracting another point so score: 0

Verdict: Not pleased they sent me a shampoo and wrote conditioner in the card. Hate the dodgy powder and the glitter eyeliner. Hope the bags continue in future, but they pack according to the product card.
EDIT: They sent someone to pick up the shampoo and then sent me the conditioner as a replacement. I was like, you want to pick up a measly "sample" before you give me the replacement?
  1. wow ! lovely but I wonder why they send you a shampoo when conditioner is mentioned on ur card :P anyways mail them, i think they will send u conditioner too :)

  2. I have got the same things like you but instead of shampoo I have got conditioner. Even I agree with you the staying power of the eyeliner is very poor. For me they have forgot to send my MMMM bonus.

    1. Gosh, do mail them! Can't stand the liner - it's like big glitter has been dissolved in glutinous water.

    2. I have mailed them yesterday itself, no response from them till now. We cant apply the liner as such try lining it over black eyeliner and see

    1. I'd say it's more useful as a makeup pouch for your everyday handbag rather than while travelling. My travel makeup bag is giant sized....

  4. The pouch and jute bag are nice. I wouldn't mind getting the acne kit but I really hope I don't get an electric blue liner.

    1. Not one bit :( The shower gel is fine, but why pay for a travel-sized shower gel alone?

  7. As a policy I think when any sampling service sends a product like a shampoo, they need to add the conditioner and vice versa, so that the user gets a complete experience. As for filling the questionnaire's...it is pointless! I've had that experience with Vellvette, when I categorically said I don't use make up, they sent make up stuff!! Can't help it. I don't quite think that it actually matters to them because they have so many subscribers already, so one person nit picking may not make a difference.

    1. Oh no that must be annoying - have you mailed them about sending you only skin care? You're spot on about them not caring because they've made it already. However I feel the bubble will burst the moment a couple of international boxes show up. I'm debating cancelling and asking for a refund (if they have that option) once my Lip Factory Box shows up.

    2. What is the lip factory box? Link me to it please? Of course they have a cancellation option. So if you have two months of subscription left, you can cancel it NOW. They accept cancellations before they ship out the boxes/bags/whatever!

I am happy that they have stuck around than most boxes that came and went and some that are still hanging around figuring out what to do! What saddens me is just the attitude. Its more of a "we don't quite care what you-hink. Shut-up and use what we sent!"

      Delete
    3. Have sent you the links :D The attitude is galling...took two whole days for me to get a reply saying the shampoo was sent to me in error and that they would pick it up in July first week. And to think I paid 400 for powders in jars and glitter suspended in slime :(

  8. Gosh just tried the eyeliner today and it never dried on my eyes! The consistency also makes it difficult to apply evenly.. I ws really hopin this one wud work :(

    1. I know! After all the hype on Facebook, it was disappointing to say the least and I had to fish around to get the glitter to look like that in the swatch - even then, it was clumpy. I'm going to sell it swatched once on the hand or bin it!
