EOTD: Smoky eye makeup with Sleek Candy Collection palette

Happy Thanksgiving! Here's an EOTD with some sweet shadows for this day. The Sleek iDivine Candy Collection palette (swatched and reviewed here) contains some very versatile eyeshadows that will have you hopping out of your comfort zone and trying on some unlikely combinations that actually work! I shook my head over quite a few of these candylicious shades but soon realised that the Sleek Makeup people knew what they were doing when they chose the 12 shades.

Here is a smoky eye makeup look I've done with the Candy Collection palette. The eyeshadows I used are:

  1. Parma Violet in the crease. This is a matte deep violet shade and one of my favourites in this palette. I see this colour featuring in the crease almost each time I reach for the Candy Collection palette.
  2. Mint Cream on the lid. Ummm. This is one colour I was extremely iffy about and I was prepared to bet my entire stash that the matte light slate-green wouldn't work alongside Parma Violet. Thankfully, no one took me up on the wager.
  3. Cream Soda, a shimmery white, in the inner corner, blended towards the lid. I felt the look was all a bit too matte, so used a tad of glitter from this shade.
I wore this EOTD over Urban Decay Primer Potion and finished off with one of the mascaras I hate the most but need to use up the darn tube - Bourjois Elastic Mascara. Look at those almighty clumps! Whoever invented this formula ought to have their neck wrung.
I  had tried to use shadow liner and smudge Parma Violet over the upper lash line, but Sleek eyeshadows - at least, the matte ones - don't seem to work very well as shadow liners. I tried Parma Violet both wet and dry with theBalm's Shady Lady shadow liner brush but apart from having major fallout on my cheeks, it didn't work well. So I used Bourjois Glitter Fizz Eye Liner in black.
I used the Eco Tools six-piece brush set (which I won in a giveaway here) to apply these shadows, instead of my usual beloved theBalm Powder To The People eye brushes (reviewed here). The Eco Tools set is small but very efficient and powerful, and easily packed into your travel case.
Do let me know what you think of my third smoky eye makeup look ever! Any improvement? Or blah?
This is my entry for this week's installment of the Smoky Eye Friday link-up hosted by Leticia of Cosmetics Aficionado. You can get the code here and participate as frequently as you like.
I'm going to try a blue smoky eye soon! Do wish me luck!
