Barry M TMLP green lipstick review, swatches, photos

The bright green colour caught my eye first in the aisle at Boots. A balm, I thought. But it was among the lipsticks. Perhaps for a Christmas party joke? Curious to know how green lipstick would look on my skin, I pulled it out of the shelf and gave a good swatch. Nothing. A balm, I decided, walking away to Bourjois.
A couple of minutes later, I reached out to swatch the Erasable Liner and got the shock of my life.

Here's the review and swatches of the green Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint (TMLP).

Continuing where we left off - the swatch on my arm had turned a decent fuchsia. I rushed back to Barry M and picked up two of the Touch of Magic Lip Paints (TMLP, which the SA said was Turn My Lips Pink) on the spot.

Packaging of Barry M TMLP lipstick

A straightforward black square tube. Matte finish, except the edges, and the gold Barry M. on top gives it a classy look.

Formula of Barry M TMLP lipstick

Nicely hydrating and creamy. It feels exactly like a lip balm, more so than any other lipstick and even some balms.

The Barry M TMLP lipstick adjusts to the pH of your skin and turns "your custom shade of pink". We've seen something like this before with the Bourjois Rose Exclusif gloss that did just that, and the Mood Magic colour changing lipsticks. So what's different and new here?
Pigmentation. The others were sheerer. Bourjois was a gloss. Barry M even has buildable coverage - accidentally swipe it a few times more and you get deep berry pink. You can call this a pigmented lip stain rather than proper creamy lipstick. I sometimes end up swiping more product on because you can't see the colour appear rightaway.

Besides, Barry M is waterproof and contains aloe vera.

Staying power of Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint

It lasts through rain, shine, food and drink. Even friends with lips that can't hold on to M.A.C. ProLongWear are happy with this one. I've had this lipstick stay on after a shower.

Price of Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint

Retails at £4.49 at Boots. Can't remember how much that was in the Gulf, but I don't think I paid more than 30 riyals.

Swatches of Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint

Here's what it looks like on the fingertips in natural light. On the left side, multiple swipes. On the right, just one swipe. I've blotted the swatch to the right a bit.

Here's what it looks like on my lips, just the ONE lighthanded swipe. Not my usual dusty rose, but definitely a colour I like. Oh, yes, I have slightly lopsided lips.
A lip liner would be a good idea so you keep the swipe within the lip area. You can't correct these as they have terrific staying power and errors will scream at you a mile away and will last on the lips through wartime. Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water (my current makeup remover) gets the lipstick off, but doesn't get rid of every last remaining vestige of colour - you still have slight traces of pink on the edges.
Bottom line
I absolutely love pulling the green lipstick out of my bag and applying it in front of people :D A novelty that packs in great quality, staying power and pigmentation and creaminess, for a very reasonable price! Why aren't these made compulsory by law already? And Barry M, please introduce your range into every country on the globe. I have a feeling even world peace could follow.
