Beauteque - beauty + boutique - is a New Jersey-based online retail store founded in 2014. They sell Korean products from top brands, right from Etude House to Tony Moly. However, they try to keep their inventory five-free to an extent (parabens, benzopenone, animal raw material, pigment and mineral oil) and they'll also tell you what ingredients each product contains if you ask them.
The Beauteque Sample Bag is a one-off kit you can order, containing samples from Korean brands. You can choose the samples yourself, and they are mostly sachets or vials. And the best part is, the samples are entirely free - you only pay for shipping worldwide! And, international shipping is only $6.55.
Best of all, I was charged only $6.55 for shipping, but the label clearly says the company paid more than that to ship to me from the US - $9.15! And, they delivered in seven days after my order was placed. Win!Enough background. Let's have a look at the actual samples! The samples come in a little pink pouch.
Here is what I got in the Beauteque sample bag:
A quick look at each.
One sharpener, made in KoreaThis was not included in the samples I picked and seems to be a surprise. I'm always misplacing my sharpeners, so this is very welcome.
Lioele AC Control Trouble Hunter setThis is an acne-treatment set containing a toner and a lotion. Since you only need to apply the lotion on the acne itself, this should go a long way. I have had a very positive experience with the Etude House AC Clinic range and am sure the Lioele kit will also do a good job fighting acne.
Skin79 BB CleanserNope, not a BB Cream. This is a natural cleansing foam that will remove makeup and promises to deliver oxygen to the skin. Apparently you can see the air bubble on the face while using this. Hmmm. I'll have to try it out and tell you what that looks like!
Lioele Multi Seaweed GelThere's more than 90% seaweed extract in this product. I have used this gel before and loved it, and this is a great, cooling moisturiser for the summer.
Lioele Secret Pore Rich BalmSounds like a primer. I know I have ordered quite a few Lioele products in this bag, because I love their range and because I want to try out new things such as this one.
Lioele V-Line Waterdrop Sleeping PackThis is a pack which you wear overnight - it is absorbed without stickiness and is super-moisturising. I'll give it a go when the weather turns dry again.
Skin79 Beblesh BalmI don't voluntarily choose or use BB creams but the claims on this one were too good to resist - containing five different types of vitamins, SPF50, anti-wrinkle properties and UV protection and certified by KFDA (which is the Korean FDA) as triple-functioning, I can't wait to give this a go.
Lioele Pore Clean and Tightening Dr AmpouleSounds like another primer or toner. I won't know until I open it, but when I do, I'll definitely share my thoughts.
The Face Shop Mango Seed Butter and Chia Seed creamBoth are formulated with natural ingredients. The Mango Seed Butter actually smells of mangoes. I know I'm going to love both.
For $6.55, this is a very good deal, since I can customise everything and choose my own samples. In the past, haven't I reviewed appalling beauty boxes with three crummy, expired products where I paid more than $6.55? Or another box with 3-4 foil sachets, a tiny tube of expired face wash and 1-2 perfume vials for $14? The Beauteque sample bag, on the other hand, has 10 items in all - eight sachets, one pair of vials and a sharpener. I definitely did not receive anything as good from a beauty box for which I used to pay $6.65.
The downside is that Beauteque has currently sold out the sampling bags - obviously! With that kind of price, I'm surprised it lasted long enough for me to get one! But the good news is that they will restock their inventory and restart the sampler bags. Watch out for that name on my blog.
