Manicure: O.P.I. Polka.com glitter nail polish swatched over I Don't Give A Rotterdam

Manicure: O.P.I. Polka.com glitter nail polish swatched over I Don't Give A Rotterdam
Of late, I love wearing glitter nail polish over similar base shades, rather than creating a contrast. I like the way some glitter polishes fit so well over some regular polishes.
Now that it is spring, I thought I would reach for some older spring polishes - I hate the way we get new O.P.I. and China Glaze polishes in Asia only four to six months after they launch elsewhere, so it's not like I have a choice here. In December 2013, they were celebrating the launch of the Euro Centrale Collection in the Middle East! And that was O.P.I.'s Spring 2013 collection!
For this manicure, I picked two polishes from O.P.I.'s Spring collections for 2012 and 2013. I love how nicely they fit together. First up: O.P.I.'s I Don't Give A Rotterdam from Spring 2012's Holland Collection.
I Don't Give A Rotterdam is a favourite of mine. A very, very pretty, pale dusty steel-blue nail polish with lots of gold and silver glitter speckles. The shimmer is not in your face. Nor does it make the polish difficult to remove, but it certainly spices up the look.

I wore this over Rimmel All White Now and achieved full opacity in two coats. There were two dusty slate-blues in the Holland Collection. The second one was I Have A Herring Problem. I picked Rotterdam because Herring Problem was warmer. The swatches are after three days' wear, which is why you can see some tipwear. Both photographs are in natural light, one came out a bit clearer.

For the top glitter layer, I picked O.P.I.'s Polka.com from the Euro Centrale Collection, Spring 2013. This polish had been on my wishlist from the time it launched and I finally picked it up from Dubai. Polka.com has pink, blue and teal medium hexagonal and smaller glitter in a clear base. This is a beautiful glitter. I wish mainstream polish brands regularly released glitter polishes like this.

The formula of Polka.com is an absolute dream - no need to fish, poke, swirl or dab. I did have to spread out the glitter a bit on my nails, but getting the glitter out of the bottle was no trouble at all. The photograph below is in direct sunlight.
What did you think of this combination?
