Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Reflect nail polish from Samhain collection swatches and review

Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Reflect by Samhain nail polish swatches and review
I love pretty much any nail polish made by Carpe Noctem Cosmetics, the indie brand run by Emily. She is facing some health issues now - if you read this, please get well soon, Emily - but will reopen her online store shortly! The polishes in her Samhain Collection are among my favourites. Samhain is a Gaelic festival that falls in the last quarter of the year but I use all polishes all around the year as I live in the tropics and have only two seasons - rain and shine!
This is Reflect, a duochrome that is actually meant to be worn over a darker base. I chose to try it by itself, and have four coats on. It starts off as a teal blue shimmer but has different facets under different lighting and angles, as you will see from the swatches.

So the first swatch above is in natural light, and is just teal with shimmer. The formula is easy to apply and quick-drying. You can see hints of purple in the bottle.
From an angle, you can see the purple coming in.

But the duochrome effect is not too prominent in natural light until the fingernails are perpendicular to the lens.

We're looking at direct sunlight next. The teal turns into a deeper purpley-blue - see below.

And, this is what it looks like in artificial light. I've got a super close-up of the thumbnail so you can see.

The duochrome effect would be a lot stronger if I layered this polish over a black or some other deeper base colour but clearly my wisdom fled along with my tooth. And, please pardon my horrendous photography skills.
That's it from me for now. I am having a rather hectic week, but hope to have a more relaxed weekend (touch wood) and will announce the giveaway winners then.
