Smoky eye with Too Faced Candied Violet

Smoky eye makeup with Too Faced Candied Violet eyeshadowOf late, I like the idea of accentuating just the one eyeshadow - maybe with a matte neutral shade for the inner corners and browbones. What I do is apply the colour generously enough on the eyelids but with a light hand in the creases and then add neutral or highlighting shadow in the outer creases and browbones just to get the harshness out of the way. I have also been trying to go "smokier", with deeper shades.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, reviewed and swatched here, has to be the neutral palette of the season! Apart from the traditional brown-based neutrals, this palette has a few surprise shades, such as violet, burgundy and pale pink. And, did I mention that the shadows smell just like chocolate? I picked Candied Violet for this look to break away from the neutrals.
Candied Violet is a deep violet eyeshadow with shimmer. What I like about this eyeshadow is that it is not in-your-face as a purple. It is quite sheer and leans towards greyish undertones, making it a great choice for a smoky eye, though you might have to build up the colour for a super-sultry look. For my part, I applied it generously on the eyelids and went very lighthanded in the creases, blending it out into a spot of Milk Chocolate, which is a medium matte brown, in the outer creases, before adding White Chocolate, a matte ivory shadow, on the browbones. I also applied a very light dusting of Candied Violet on the lower lashline.

I finished the look with Too Faced 3-Way Liner, Rimmel GlamEyes Day 2 Night Mascara - will review this soon - Lancome Crayon Khol and Benefit Gimme Brow. This was above Kat von D High Voltage Eye Primer.
The photographs above were in natural light, so here are a couple of pictures with flash so you can see how much smokier the shadow becomes.
