Le Volume de Chanel mascara review

Le Volume de Chanel mascara review
I could probably be considered for the role of Grima Wormtongue from the Lord of the Rings, as that character and I share a lack of eyelashes, although I have more decent eyebrows. I envy all you ladies with long, luscious eyelashes. I was born with fuzz and grew up with fuzz. I will, in all likelihood, kick the bucket when the time comes, with fuzz, unless I lose even my fuzzy lashes someday - I have been reading about ladies who lost eyelashes during pregnancy. Eeeeeeek!
Having discovered Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes - which remains my all-time favourite mascara - last year, I have not really wanted to spend a lot of money on another high-end mascara which may or may not work, so I have been trying out quite a few trial-sized tubes. I was delighted with the Chanel SA gave me a sample tube of Le Volume de Chanel mascara when I picked up a couple of lipsticks from her counter.

Here is the review of Chanel's Le Volume de Chanel mascara.

The packaging

I only have the trial size with me, so I cannot comment on the full size. This is shaped like a cute mini-toothpaste tube. It comes in just the one shade, Noir.

The brush

The wand is interesting, with really short, thorn-like bristles. The SA said this was the special "Snowflake" wand and would open the eyes very effectively.

The brush picks up a lot of the product and it is quite wet. Drying time is not too quick. It took me a bit to get the hang of the short bristles.
Chanel claims the formula will instantly plump up lashes and that this is a high-precision mascara.

Before and after photos and results

The photos are, as usual, at an angle because my fuzzy "lashes" do not show up otherwise. Have you seen more sparse eyelashes on anyone else? Apart from Grima Wormtongue, that is.

This is with one coat of Le Volume de Chanel. Ignore the rest of my fading eye makeup, please.

This picture was taken at the end of the day. You can see there has been no flaking. I like the curling effect the mascara provided - I did not curl my lashes for this photo. It did open my eyes, but there was no drama in terms of volume, and I did notice some clumping.
Summary
I am glad I could try out this mascara and it definitely makes a difference to my non-existent eyelashes. But would I spend $30 on the full-sized tube? Nope. I get better results with Hypnose Doll Eyes, as you can see here, and will keep trying out other brands in the hope of finding a dupe.
