Manicure: Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer Persephone

Red manicure with Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer in Persephone
I swear I was not going to do another sticker manicure! In fact, I wanted to wear this nail polish by itself. But this polish alone would not have fulfilled the requirements of the GOT Polish Challenge, where at least one of the elements of the manicure must be one year old, or more. This challenge is partly responsible for the spate of sticker-based manicures I have done recently. I promise you that next week's submission will be a technique I have not tried before.
Having seen Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer on several blogs, I could not wait to try out their polish. I finally got a nice little bottle in my amazing Vegan Cuts Beauty Essentials Kit, seen here.

The whole point of this mani, though, is to swatch the amazing Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer in Persephone.

Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, Greek Goddess of Harvest. She (Persephone) was kidnapped by Hades, God of the Underworld, who later tricked her into staying on and becoming his queen, when he got her to eat a couple of pomegranate seeds. I recommend Roger Lancelyn Green's Tales Of Greek Heroes and Ancient Greece for a great read-a-thon. Rainbow Honey describes this shade as a "fiery red" that "radiates with gold, copper and multichromatic shimmer". This is what it looks like without the nail art stickers or topcoat. Photo taken in natural light.

The soft red base is packed with gold, silver, pink and purple shimmer. This polish is definitely one of the densest shimmers I have ever used. I am wearing two coats here, and it gives full opacity. The polish was easy to apply, and, for a glitter, quite easy to remove with the Bourjois Magic Polish Remover. In four days of wear, I did notice some tipwear but nothing too drastic. The photo below was taken indoors, with flash.

Rainbow Honey is a cruelty-free, 100% vegan and five-free brand, as you can see from the ingredients. The independent brand is based in New Jersey. Persephone belongs to the Holiday 2013 Collection. I will definitely look out for more of their polishes.
I am wearing topcoat over the nail art stickers. Having bought, received or generally acquired a bunch of nail art stickers more than a year ago, I keep turning to them to add an element that is more than a year old to my manis if I am using newer polishes. And it is one way of using them up before the glue gives way completely!

This is my submission to the GOT Polish Challenge themed "red". This is not an in-your-face or classic red, but a very pretty shimmery shade I love. Next week is free choice. Woot!
