Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipstick 410 Dynamic review, swatches

There is nothing quite like discovering a new lipstick you love for every reason - shade, formula, texture, pigmentation....
I hit my favourite Estee Lauder counter recently, and the SA showed me the Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipsticks, which were launched earlier this year. There are 20 shades in this range of pigmented, moisturising lippies. While I swear by the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Lip Duos seen here, I was intrigued enough to pick one. I tried out three other testers as well - Insatiable Ivory, Intense N*de and Rebellious Rose, but she did not have two of those in stock and I was on the fence about the third, so I had to settle for shade 410 Dynamic. I have asked her to let me know when they turn up. I also picked up a couple of samples, which I will show you along with the other products I bought.

Here is my review and swatch of the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in shade 410 Dynamic.

Packaging of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick:

The signature navy blue and gold external box contains a metallic, heavy navy blue tube, which comes with metallic closure and a gold metal plating on either end, as you can see.

The packaging is luxe but definitely not over the top. Classy. Are you reading this, Rouge d'Armanis?

Formula, pigmentation and staying power of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipsticks:

Don't ask me why these are "Sculpting" lipsticks. The SA thought it was because they sculpted out the shape of the lips. Possible. But I think it is because Estee Lauder says this contains multi-faceted pigments that bring out the definition of the lips.

The formula is, without a doubt, the creamiest of creamy lipsticks. But not as meltable as Too Faced La Cremes. Not as sheer as Benefit Hydra Smooth Lip Colors or YSL Rouge Voluptes. Not as waxy as Bobbi Browns. Just plain, good old-fashioned creamy. Think of a less... runny, just a tad thicker, version of Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks, with a LOT more pigmentation.
These do not contains parabens.

Pigmentation is brilliant in one swipe. You don't need to bother about building up coverage. These do not bleed and I do not use lip liner. Staying power? Definitely not a greasy meal. Maybe a few biscuits or a light sandwich. Without eating or drinking, these will last through four or five hours.

Swatches of Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in 410 Dynamic:

There are 20 shades in this range. Dynamic, as you must have guessed from the mere fact that I bought it, is a medium dusty pink. No surprises there.
This is just the one swipe, in natural, but very cloudy, daylight.

On-lips swatches next. Please ignore the mild milia on the lower lip, a result of a new-fangled product which I will show you soon. The point is to show you the shade, not to show off my imperfect lips.
This is in natural but cloudy light:

Summary
The Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks are going to be some of those classic, cult must-have lipsticks over time. These are right up there with my favourite creamy, non-liquid, bullet-lipsticks: Lorac Pro Mattes (Lorac has better staying power, though), Too Faced La Cremes, Lancome Rouge in Love and Benefit Hydra Smooth Lip Colors. Somehow, I love these much more than Givenchy Le Rouge - possibly because the similarities in Le Rouge's subtle shades is getting to me? - and the Rouge d'Armanis, which I need to show you. The Pure Color Envy lipsticks are just ahead of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets and Bobbi Brown Lip Colors in my mind.
I definitely want Intense Nyude in this range, which is a beautiful rosy brown neutral, and Insatiable Ivory, which is a rusty/cupric neutral brown. Maybe Rebellious Rose as well, though the latter is a couple of shades deeper, which means I am on the fence for now.
