Office Essentials Memebox review, unboxing

Memebox Office Essentials beauty box review, unboxing
The Office Essentials beauty box from Memebox is intended to provide every beauty product you need during a work-day for touch-ups and to dramatise, if required. I figured it would be a handy way of getting in necessities and emergency supplies without turning the desk into a vanity! I expected oil blotting tissues, a compact for touching up - wrong shade expected - a lipstick for touching up, hand cream, lip balm, a hair spray or serum to tame frizz, a face mist, wet tissues, a hand wash, a roll-on or spray perfume and a face wash. Maybe, a BB cream as well. As a matter of fact, the tampons from Global Edition 13 would not have looked out of place in this box! Let's see if I was right.

Here is my review and unboxing of the Office Essentials Memebox.

The products I received in the Memebox Office Essentials beauty box were:
  1. LOVEY DOVEY Perfume Fabric Mist 60ml
  2. VERY SIX 6 Seconds Kissing Lipgloss 10ml
  3. PURE SMILE Refresh Tissue Citrus Punch 10ea
  4. LABEL YOUNG Shocking Toner 250ml
  5. RIVECOWE Sebum Control Convenient Compact 8g
  6. MAXIM Maxim Mocha Gold 120g
  7. HOPE GIRL 140 Super Lash Mascara 11ml
Seven products there. A quick look at each of them.

LOVEY DOVEY Perfume Fabric Mist 60ml

I get why an office emergency kit would have a fresh-smelling spray that can be used both on clothes and the body. This is herb-infused. The product card says it should have a freshly-laundered fragrance. I'm getting fresh and citrusy here. This has gone into my handbag for freshening up on the go.

I am using this as a lip balm. This goes on absolutely clear and then develops a mild tint. The formula is more balm-y than glossy. I like the tint that develops. It does not transfer, so even when I wear it at night, I do not end up with messy pillows.

I did expect wet wipes in this box. There are two packets of these, making them ideal for the handbag. I've tried only one so far. It does not remove makeup, but that is not its purpose. It does smell nice and fresh.

Another expected product. Who does not have a pressed powder compact in their handbag for touch-ups? For my part, I love the Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Powder, which is translucent, and have one in all my bags. I also love theBalm's S3xy Mama, which is also universal-toned. I have not tried this compact, but the shade does look a bit off to me. I may not use this right now, or at all.

LABEL YOUNG Shocking Toner 250ml

Right. What, may I ask, in the name of the World's ar5e, is a TONER doing in an office box? Picture this scenario. You are at work since 9 a.m. and it is around 3 p.m. Or 7 p.m., and you are stepping out for a drink. Are you going to hit the restrooms with toner? Or will you reach for oil blotting tissues (or hydrating mist, Ye Lucky People With Non-Oily Skin) and a compact? While this is a toner, a lotion and an essence, I do not think it constitutes what I call "emergency supplies".

MAXIM Maxim Mocha Gold 120g
Erm. These are sachets of coffee powder. I get that coffee/tea is very much part of the office routine. For my part, I prefer green tea and cannot stand coffee... but then in a beauty box? This went to my Gran who insists that she likes this coffee and would I kindly get her more, please!

HOPE GIRL 140 Super Lash Mascara 11ml
Another surprise product in this box. Again, you are not going to touch up your mascara in the office. Lipstick, yes. Powder/foundation, definitely. Maybe even an eyeliner. But mascara? I know you can argue that mascara will help dramatise a look if you want to go socialising after work, but wouldn't you be wearing mascara anyway, and prefer a touch of sultry, smoky eyeshadow and maybe a deeper lipstick instead? Another thing is, I am quite sick of getting Hope Girl mascaras in Memeboxes. This goes to the Swap/Sale box unopened.

Summary and deals
I do like a couple of things in this box. But at least two of the products were quite unexpected and felt out of place to me here. Memebox was supposed to send out the Secret Key Face Mist, which they had said in a spoiler. They did not send it out and gave everyone who ordered this box 10 Memepoints instead. I wish they had given us the option to cancel instead - no one knew until the boxes had already been shipped out. Not a bad deal for $23, but some products certainly had nothing to do with the theme.
On the other hand, I did buy the latest collaboration box, Coffee Break With Dani, because it contains the Miguhara B.P. Cream and it is a lot cheaper to buy the box than to buy the cream alone. Meanwhile, keep an eye out for the Jackpot box here, which hits Memebox on Friday and comes with a prize draw. Do check out the Value Sets here and the Superboxes here to have a look at the Hallowe'en box and the Head To Toe box. Code A3YF will get you $5 off till August 31. Till my next unboxing - tomorrow lol - ciao!
