Lip Factory September 2014 review, unboxing

Lip Factory September 2014 beauty box review, unboxing
Themed "Autumn Arrives", the September 2014 Lip Factory beauty box is quite early in my mailbox - I had been receiving the previous couple of boxes by the end of the month or even in the first week of the following month. For those new here, Lip Factory is a Florida-based makeup subscription box that ships out monthly. You get five or six FULL-sized makeup products, which is why this box is such a win. It costs $22 a month within the US and $32 worldwide, but that is around $5.30-6.40 per product, which is not a bad deal at all. To subscribe, hit their website and do quote my reference number 385650 to get 50 points, which you can later redeem for products or a box!

Read on for my review and unboxing of the September 2014 Lip Factory Beauty Box.

The contents in my Autumn 2014 Lip Factory Box are:

  1. ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio 06 Arabian Nights
  2. J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Jar Eyeliner in 101 Jet Black
  3. Lip Factory Lipstick in 562 Brazilian
  4. NYX Wonder Pencil in WP02 Medium
  5. Angle Eyeliner Brush
Five full-sized products there. I got the NYX Wonder Pencil and the Lip Factory lipstick instead of two lip glosses - since I have been subscribing for well over a year now, they have been kind enough to oblige me! The ModelCo, J.Cat and NYX products are cruelty-free. The Lip Factory lipstick does not say anything, but I have emailed them to ask, and if they are cruelty-free as well, this is an all-cruelty-free box, folks!

The little lad with legs outstretched is from Gramps's English Pottery collection, proudly hijacked by me.

A quick look at each product.

ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio in 06 Arabian Nights

This palette consists of three beautifully wearable eyeshadows - Seychelles, Monte Carlo and Cairo. One is a golden highlighter. Monte Carlo is a beautiful copperish brown. Cairo is a smoky black. Great for a quick smoky eye look. This palette is quite sturdy and is tested "on models, not animals". Nice. See swatches at the end of the post. It has been a while since Lip Factory sent out palettes, and I hope they do this more often!

J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Jar Eyeliner in 101 Jet Black

Lip Factory September 2014 beauty box review, unboxingI have been having appalling luck in black liquid or gel eyeliners lately, and I cannot stand pencils. Why the appalling luck? I like the Bourjois Erasable Eyeliner but I'm tired of same-old, same-old, so I tried out the Benefit They're Real Push Up liner, which did not work for me at all despite multiple attempts. Then, I BOUGHT a high-end liquid black liner for a ginormous price only to come home and find the applicator was broken inside. The SA refused to take it back and yada yada. I will review it shortly. Anyway, in sum, I was looking for a black liquid or gel eyeliner that did not cost a bomb and this turns up! At first swatch, I like what I have seen and can get a nice even black line. This is waterproof and seems to stay on when I dig at it with a wet finger. See swatches at the end of the post. Oh, and J.Cat is cruelty-free.

Lip Factory Lipstick in 562 Brazilian

Of late, I have been receiving extremely pale lipsticks. I like muted shades, dusty rose and neutrals, but nothing super-pale and need to update my profile. This is just the right neutral for a no-makeup makeup look but I am afraid the lippie broke in transit. Would you look at that? Just my luck. I have emailed them about this.

NYX Wonder Pencil in WP02 Medium

I use a flesh-coloured Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Pencil on my waterline to open my eyes out a little and was thinking of getting another one for my travel bag. I am not the biggest fan of NYX but this pencil goes on smoothly and is the right shade. Off to my travel bag it goes!

Angle Eyeliner Brush

I cannot seem to find a brand name, but I get why they sent this out - to go with the gel eyeliner. I am always misplacing my angular brushes, so it is nice to have another.

Swatches from the September 2014 Lip Factory Beauty Box

All over bare skin, no primer. Shadows swatched with fingers, not brushes. From left: NYX eye pencil, ModelCo Trio Shadows (Seychelles, Monte Carlo and Cairo), Lip Factory Lipstick in Brazilian and J.Cat gel liner in Jet Black.

Tell me, doesn't that black eyeliner look great?

Summary

I must say this is the best Lip Factory box I have received since February 2014. I can use every single thing and the products are all timely and the right shades for me. Bummer about the broken lipstick, but their customer care is usually quick to reply and takes care of that sort of thing for me. I received the Lip Factory lipstick and the NYX Wonder Pencil because I opted out of lip gloss. They oblige because I have been subscribing for well over a year now. There are some nice goodies to play with here. I am glad I continued to subscribe to this box. I hope the October box is even better! November, I think, is the all-lips box. If you do subscribe, make sure you quote my reference number 385650 for 50 points apiece.
