Earth and Sea Memebox review, unboxing

Memebox 31 Earth and Sea beauty box review, unboxing, codes
Sometimes, you buy a beauty box just because you have a few codes and points at hand. If it turns out to be a good box, then score! I had no intention of getting the Earth and Sea box, but they had given out "good luck" points last month, and I had an August code left unused, which is why I bought the box.
Memebox said the box would contain charcoal, volcanic ash, sea mineral- and clay-based products, which would control sebum and clean pores. Having what is possibly the most oily face in the history of the world - I kid you not - I decided to give the box a try with my remaining code and points.

Read on for my review and unboxing of Memebox 31 Earth and Sea Cosmetics box.

The contents of the Earth and Sea Memebox are:

  1. Elizavecca Elastic Pore Mask Cleansing Foam 120ml
  2. Ariul Spa Water Moisturising Refreshing Mist 100ml
  3. Secret Nature Volcanic Ash Pore Pack 100g
  4. Tosowoong Super Aqua Cooling Gel 80g
  5. Shara Shara Black Charcoal Purifying Sheet Mask
  6. Dewytree Mineral Healthy Sun Cut Loose Powder 10g

Six full-sized products. A quick look at each.

Elizavecca Elastic Pore Mask Cleansing Foam 120ml

Each of these tubes is supposed to contain 6g charcoal, 3g pigskin collagen and - hold your breath - spider extracts. I have no idea what they mean by spider extracts and Google has not helped so far. The snail thing is slime from their legs when they crawl, I know, but what part of the spider is extracted? While, sadly, neither my beauty stash nor my medicine cabinet is cruelty-free despite actually having personally observed lab tests on white rats for a new kind of insulin (as a journalist), I draw the line at spiders in my skincare. I avoid carmine in my lipsticks, and, no, I am not a fully cruelty-free person, and I do not judge either sets of those arguing but spiders?? Oh, and I am incredibly petrified of lizards and geckos and swear I will throw a hissy fit if Memebox ever sends something with that lot. I want to find out more about "spider extracts" before I think about opening this.

Ariul Spa Water Moisturising Refreshing Mist 100ml

This mist is made from Belgian spa water, which is rich in minerals and amino acids. It is simply a face moisturising mist that you use in your skincare regimen and not above makeup. It feels lightweight enough at first go, and I hope it does not break me out as 99.99% products do these days.

Secret Nature Volcanic Ash Pore Pack 100g

This is possibly my favourite product in this box. It contains Jeju complex, volcanic ash, charcoal, green tea and pine needle extracts. It is free of parabens and artificial colours and fragrance. I have used it once and it came off as a grey clay mask which made my face feel squeaky-clean afterwards. I think this and the WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask are my favourite face masks from Memeboxes so far.

Tosowoong Super Aqua Cooling Gel 80g

This contains glacial water. The product card says it can be used on both the face and the body. I am always running out of body moisturisers and there are times when my skin feels warm, so a cooling gel would be nice. This is going into my shower for all-over-body moisturising.

Shara Shara Black Charcoal Purifying Sheet Mask

I love Shara Shara and I love sheet masks. This contains charcoal powder and volcanic ash, apart from wine and aloe vera. I will be trying this out over the next couple of weekends when I have a moment for some much-needed pampering.

Dewytree Mineral Healthy Sun Cut Loose Powder 10g

While this powder comes with minerals and essential oils and SPF 36 PA++, the shade is definitely off for me. I have resigned myself to unsuitability where Korean foundations and powders are concerned, as long as the rest of the box is value for money. Goes into my swap or sell box.

Summary and deals

As usual, this is a very good Memebox. I think I paid around $13 with stacked codes and points. I love the Volcanic Ash Pore Pack, the Aqua Cooling Gel and the Ariul Spa Mist. I cannot use the powder, and am unsure about the "spider extracts" in the cleansing foam, but four full-sized products out of six is not too bad. Individually, these products would cost a lot more and I have not been buying body moisturisers, masks or cleansers ever since I began buying Memeboxes. This box had remained unsold for a long time but is sold out now. However, do look out for restocks.
The latest buzz are the Citrus box and the BanilaCo box, which you can find here or here. Look out for value sets here. I am contemplating getting either of these brush sets from here or here.
Apparently, using my link will get you $5 off according to an email from Memebox but I don't think that offer has come into force yet. Some codes which have worked this month include FPHG88, BB6A0H and 7QF1. Code AFFILIATE-4130-HVME7-GKKU will get you $5 of your order of $100 while code AFFILIATE-1664-3CEPR-ELBO does the same for orders above $150.
