Memebox Scent Bundle 2 review, unboxing

Memebox Scent Bundle 2 review, unboxing: Tropical Fruits, Sweet Shop, Floral beauty boxes
After the fiasco that occurred over my Scent Bundle 1 from Memebox, I was not entirely surprised to receive only two boxes in the second Scent bundle as well - my external box was completely trashed and broken and Tropical Fruits was missing. But it was comparatively quicker and easier to have them send out a replacement this time. So while I am more than a month late with this review, the fact that I have all three boxes at hand is much cause for comfort. Please click on each photo to enlarge it!

For those who came in late, Memebox Scent Bundles are a group of three fragrance-themed beauty boxes where you buy two and get one free, so that is three beauty boxes for $30, which is a brilliant deal, especially if you use a discount code or points additionally. You can check out my review of the first set here.

Read on for my unboxing of the second Scent Bundle from Memebox.

This is how the box turned up, and the sides were creased as though something very heavy had been placed on top.

First up, the Tropical Fruits box.

Living in the tropics means I get access to a variety of great fruits, so I expected mango, orange, papaya, pineapple, coconut, kiwi, watermelon, guavas and grape to figure among the fragrances selected. I was not off the mark. The box contained five full-sized products, which is a downright steal for $10!

The contents of the Tropical Fruits Memebox are:

1. Boutique Bebe Coconut Pack 100g

This looks and feels like a soap and smells of coconut milk. You are supposed to lather and apply like soap and rinse off for deep pore cleansing and care. One try later, I like what I have seen. But I maintain that this is a face soap or cleanser than a mask.

2. Ladykin Twinklight Soft Foam Cleansing Kiwi 100ml

There you go, first coconut, and now, kiwi. I love face cleansers and cannot have too many. Best  of all, I have never tried a kiwi-scented face cleanser before! This is supposed to remove makeup thoroughly while nourishing the skin with vitamin C. Off to my testing table!

3. Konad Niju Mango Moisture Hand Cream 60ml

If it is tropical, then it must be mangoes. I love the fruit! I also love Konad, a brand I have used before, and not just for nail art supplies. This hand cream smells amazing and contains organic argan oil, shea butter, olive oil and vitamin E. I am always running out of hand creams so this is definitely very welcome.

4. Konad Scented Polish in Orange 10ml

I have only tried one scented nail polish before, and that was Revlon. I hated both texture and fragrance. I usually get along well with Konad polishes and this claims that the fragrance will stay on for seven days. But having opened this bottle and taken a whiff, I am not a fan - "fragrance", my foot! Perhaps it will turn out better-smelling on the nails? Either way, I simply do not understand the point of scented nail polish, when I would rather wear actual perfume over my skin. Meh.

5. Evas Vitamin Body Wash in Strawberry 200ml

This smells much nicer. I was expecting a shower gel in this box. I do have quite a few shower gels in my cabinet, waiting to be used up. Let's see if I can afford to spring clean and chuck one or two into the swap box.

Next, the Sweet Shop box

The contents of this box are supposed to smell sweet, like sugar, sprinkles and candy. That there was going to be a sugar scrub in this box was a no-contest. I also expected a lip scrub, though Memebox has sent out three or four of those already. This box contained four full-sized products. Still a great deal for $10!

The contents of the Sweet Shop box:

1. Pure Smile Jewellery Glitter Sugar Scrub in Topaz 100ml

I actually wish I had got Diamond rather than Topaz, as Diamond is my birthstone and I have a major weakness for it. I have not got around to using this, as I have half a tub of Soap and Glory's Flake Away to use up first. Mind you, I love Flake Away so much that this scrub will have to be exceptional to live up to Soap & Glory.

2. Hello Everybody Vita Berry Shampoo 200ml

I have already received this in a Wish Box before. I haven't actually used it up yet, and I always love DermOrganic Daily Conditioning Shampoo forever. This one goes into my swap or sell box, unopened.

3. Hope Girl Tinted Lip Balm 5g

I got Strawberry, a scent I am actually not too fond of. Nor am I into lip tints which come in jars, because I would either have to dunk a finger in or hunt around for a spatula, which is not easy in the mess that surrounds me. I love the two lip balms that turned up in the Yoghurt box, they could just have sent out another set like that! Most probably off to my swap or sell box. Don't you think Memebox is sending out way too many products from Hope Girl these days? Whatever happened to all the variety of brands out there?

4. Pure Smile Choosy Lip Pack in White Pearl and Pink Pearl

Ah, I love these lip masks. They soften dry flakes in minutes. I used up the last one I had in September, so these are both very welcome for this month.

Now for the last box in the bundle, the Floral box.

To be honest, this was the box I was least excited about. Plain floral can easily become sickly unless you make it smell like Benefit's So Hooked On Carmella, which is my favourite floral-only fragrance, now discontinued because all brands love doing this to me.
Anyway, this box has four full-sized products as well. They are:
Memebox Scent Bundle 2 review, unboxing: Tropical Fruits, Sweet Shop, Floral beauty boxes

1. Sally's Box Friendly Cherry Blossom Hand Mask

I just bought the hair version of this mask from the Memeshop and cannot wait to try it out! I love the glove-like hand masks from Korea for quick hydration and flakiness-solving.

2. Esthe Shower Cologne 100ml

I got White Musk. As I said, this is exactly the sort of product I feared I would receive in this box. However, the third box in the bundle was free anyway, so my nitpicking is rather like looking a gift horse in the mouth. This goes to my Gran, who, it is hoped, will appreciate it more than I do.

3. L'Ocean Feromonika Perfume 10ml

This is a pocket perfume and I got 04 Delos Coral. I love Dior the most ever for perfume, followed by Juicy Couture, Chloe, Lancome, Benefit and so on, so pardon me if I sound a little off here. I would have loved a floral body lotion or even shower gel instead of two fragrance sprays in one box. A rosy lip tint. A jasmine-infused sheet mask. This went to a great-aunt of mine who has been helping me out by receiving my mail whenever I travel, and, according to my Mum who delivered the perfume to her, my great-aunt seemed to like it!

4. Secret Key Perfume Hand Cream 30g

This is the sort of product I wish Memebox would include in these bundles rather than perfume sprays forever! Hand creams, foot creams, body lotions, hair packs, face cleansers, scrubs, face masks - all these are daily essentials and are used up very quickly, whereas perfumes are very personal and tend to fester unless you LOVE what you get.

Summary and deals

For $30, this was an out-and-out bargain. I love that I got two hand creams, two lip masks, a face pack, a face cleanser, a shower gel and a scrub, a hand mask and a nail polish out of this, apart from two fragrance sprays, a shampoo and a lip balm. Thirteen full-sized products for $30 means you pay $3 per product, including shipping! But I wish they would stop sending out Hope Girl products and perfume sprays in future Memeboxes.
The good news is that a new bundle was released today - this time, a Colour Bundle. You can check out my review of the first Colour Bundle here. The second edition has Jewel Tones, Electric Brights and Pastel Hues. The bad news is that the 2+1 offer is sold out BUT they could restock it. You can get the boxes individually here, so if you prefer Pastel Hues and Jewel Tones but not Electric Brights, you can get just those two boxes for $15 each. Also, three new collaboration boxes are out: Vagabond Youth, Cutiepiemarzia v. 3 and Samantha Schuerman - check them out here! Other collaboration boxes are up here. There are other value sets which you can check out here; maybe you will find something you like! Remember, code B0EB gets you $5 off.
I also have a giveaway running, for new customers who have never tried out a Memebox. Check it out here!
