Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin lipsticks Pink review, swatches

Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin lipsticks Pink 500, 502 review, swatches

Over the last three days, I have been unearthing my Mum's collection of romance comics and having the time of my life reading stories of big-haired women who dump their unsuitable fiance a week before the wedding and marry Mr Right a week after they meet him, all in the 1970s and '80s. Fun!
There is nothing like discovering another great lipstick in your favourite shade. In my case, this is dusty and somewhat mauvey rose. I do not mind how many I have in this shade family. Unfortunately, it means that people cannot often tell that you are wearing a new lipstick, but that is of minor consequence to me.
I have been wanting to try Giorgio Armani makeup for a while now and I had heard such good things about the Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Colors. It was no surprise that I concluded that the Pink family would be the most suitable for me. I picked Pink 500 and 502, to begin with.

Read on for my review and swatches of Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Color in Pink 500 and 502.

Packaging of Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Colors

These come in a rather heavy metal tube with magnetic closure. They feel and look luxurious, but fuss-free and non-blingy. I love how the GA logo features on the place where the cap and barrel meet.

Formula, shades, staying power and pigmentation of Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Colors

All the 500-something shades are labelled "Pink". The shades become progressively pinker and less mauve and grey as the shade number goes up, with a couple of exceptions. I would love to get 501, 504, 506, 509, 512 and 514, all of which are more or less dusty roses with mild variation. Yes, well, I LOVE lipstick in the same colour.
503 is too mild, 505 is too dark and 508 is too pale for my subtle tastes. Pink 510 is orange - I have no idea what they mean by calling it "Pink". And 513 belongs with the Reds. Anything above that is more hot-pink and barbie-pink rather than subtle dusty rose.
All the 100s are Beige, the 200s, Brown, the 400s, Red, and the 600s, Plum - 602 alone belongs with the pinks!
Take a look at 500 on the left and 502 on the right, with flash:

502 looks pinker, right? Now in natural light. Sorry the lippies are used but who has the patience to wait to take photos?

Pigmentation is great, as you will see from the swatches below. One swipe is all you need. The formula is light and incredibly smooth and creamy without the slightest slippage or bleeding or stickiness. No drying out either. Staying power is around five hours, easily, with a touch-up after that. Six, if you do not eat in the meantime. Stays through tea, fruit juice, sandwiches, couscous, polenta, salads and noodles, with some fading, but not through pizza. This is among the top non-matte and non-liquid long-staying lipsticks I have seen.
There are no parabens among the ingredients.

On-lips swatches now. No lip liner, no primer, no lipbalm, just bare, somewhat dry-and-recovering-from-milia-thanks-to-Korean-snail-lip-balm lips.

Natural light, in the car, so one side is in the light: Ignore the milia from the snail lip balm, please.

Once this faded away, someone asked me if I smoked. Oh dear.

This is Pink 502, below. All natural light. In the car first.

Isn't that the most pretty dusty rose EVER? I could wear this shade every single day for the rest of my days and never feel bored. No danger of smokers' lips here.

Balcony, natural light.
If, for some bizarre reason, I ever wrote poetry about a lipstick shade, THIS would be the very shade I chose as subject for my verses.

Summary and comparisons with other creamy non-liquid lipsticks.

The staying power of the Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Colors is comparable to my favourite Lancome Rouge in Love lippies. You do not find such good staying power from the usual bullets without the liquid formula. They certainly last much longer than Bobbi Browns, though the feel is very comparable. They are less glossy than Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy, though the latter lasts almost as well. They are far more pigmented than Benefit Hydra Smooth Lip Colors, reviewed here, but those are more lightweight and suitable for quick, subtle wear. I also prefer these to Givenchy Le Rouge, UD Revolution, Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet, MUFE Rouge Artist Intense and a bunch of others. The Rouge d'Armanis win over YSL Rouge Volupte Shine where everything - pigmentation, staying power and formula  - is concerned.
These are on par with Too Faced La Cremes, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy, Lancome Rouge in Love and Bobbi Browns in my "non-liquid lipstick likeability" list, though this list is topped by the amazing Lorac Pro Matte Retractable Lip Colours, reviewed here.
I highly recommend the Rouge d'Armani Lasting Satin Lip Colors - these are definitely worth a save-and-splurge or a Holiday treat, simply because they do much better than so many other lipsticks out there! I find myself reaching for Pink 502 pretty much every morning these days. And yes, I need 501, 504, 506, 509, 512 and 514 from the Pink range soon. Even if all of them, like most of my lipsticks, are pretty much the same shade!
