LookFantastic Beauty Box February 2015 unboxing, review

A good mix of makeup, hair care and skincare in this month's #LFBeautyBox.

LookFantastic Beauty Box February 2015 unboxing, review

My February LookFantastic beauty box came in a couple of days ago, and this time, they have sent out a mixture of makeup, skincare and hair care products, some of which are cult products. No, there are no hairsprays this time - I bet you are as tired of seeing them in beauty boxes as I am.
Before I show you the contents of my box, I am delighted to inform you that LookFantastic, a British £15-monthly beauty box that ships worldwide, now offers annual, six- and three-month subscriptions, and accepts pre-orders right up to December 2016, so you need not worry about boxes selling out by the time you get to hear of their launch. Just go here and get 'em! Check out my previous LookFantastic boxes here.
Long-term subscriptions can save you up to £45. I received an annual subscription as a Valentine's Day gift, much to my delight.

Read on for my review and unboxing of the February 2015 LookFantastic Beauty Box.

I received:
  1. Dr. PawPaw Multipurpose Soothing Balm
  2. Moroccanoil Treatment
  3. Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar
  4. Korres Citrus Body Milk
  5. Bellápierre Cosmetics Natural Eyeliner in Midnight Blue
  6. MONU Illuminating Primer
Of the six products here, the eyeliner is full-sized. I have already tried out some of these and here are my first impressions.

Dr. PawPaw Multipurpose Soothing Balm

I have heard a lot about this multipurpose balm, which can be used for the lips, hair and skin. As this is a 10ml sample - the full-sized version is 25ml - I don't think there is enough for the hair or skin, so I will be using this as a lip balm. This is entirely fragrance-free and cruelty-free and contains natural fermented papaya/pawpaw and olive oil. Papayas figure among my top five fruits; Gramps has a whole lot of plants in his back garden and they taste amazing when chilled.

Moroccanoil Treatment

This box certainly contains a bunch of cult products, innit? I had received a sample from an Israeli beauty box and loved using this as a finisher after washing my hair and it definitely helped control frizz. I'm glad they've sent this out; it helps defer repurchase for longer! LookFantastic sent me a 25ml bottle, which costs £13.45. I know Moroccanoil gets some bad press for containing dimethicone, but hey, whatever works on my weird hair can't be too bad, especially if I use a clarifying shampoo every now and then!

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar

I received this same sample in a Beauty.com GWP recently and loved using it, even though it lasted only about four days. This is a 97% natural soap containing Dead Sea Mud and exfoliates as well. Going into my travel bag for a weekend.

Korres Citrus Body Milk

One of the earlier LookFantastic beauty boxes had contained Korres Citrus body wash; this 50ml bottle will pair nicely with the wash for the summer. It contains almond oil, aloe, provitamin B5 and shea butter and is mineral oil-, silicone- and propylene glycol-free. I love Korres and am constantly running out of body lotions, now that I moisturise all over two times a day, so this is a handy addition.

Bellápierre Cosmetics Natural Eyeliner in Midnight Blue

This is the first of two makeup products in this box. The pencil eyeliner is paraben/preservative-free and contains minerals, natural waxes and antioxidants. I got a pretty midnight blue shade; the pencil is super-creamy, though not as thin as I would like. I will give it a whirl shortly.

MONU Illuminating Primer

This is the second makeup product in this box. I have wanted to try MONU and RENU *cough not-self-important-am-I cough* products for a while now. At first use, I have fallen in love with this primer. I expected it to be shimmery/glittery on seeing the word "illuminating",  but it dries matte. It contains mica, zinc oxide, blackcurrant seeds and cassia leaf extract, and has an SPF of 15, so it protects from UV damage and premature ageing. It gives a very soft look and smooths the face nicely. Oh, and no parabens or cones!
The grey marks on the bottle are from the packaging of the box. I end up with black fingers each time; LookFantastic should consider a different colour for the shreds.

Verdict

Overall, a good box this month. I love that they sent out the MONU primer and Moroccanoil, and am thrilled to try out the Dr PawPaw balm, which had appeared in several British beauty boxes last year. Body lotions are welcome anytime; I use them up more than I use anything else. If there was one thing I wasn't a huge fan of, it was the teensy soap bar. IMO, foil sachets, perfume vials and mini soaps are to be avoided in beauty boxes, because you get them free from beauty counters anyway.
This beauty box is worth £48 and is available for £15 here, for a few days longer! You can also get annual, six- and three-month subscriptions here - save up to £45 on a year's subscription and never miss a box! You can also pre-order any box until December 2016 here.

Thoughts? Ever tried/loved/hated any of these products?

This post is my submission to the Best of Beauty link-ups for this week.
