LookFantastic Beauty Box August 2015 review

August 2015 marks LookFantastic's 17th birthday, so they had promised to deliver a great box - not to mention fabulous deals all month. For the uninitiated, LookFantastic is a UK-based beauty retailer who ships worldwide. Boxes cost £15 a month and annual subs will get you a box for a mere £9.

LookFantastic Beauty Box August 2015 review, unboxing
LookFantastic's beauty subscription was launched last September. They began beautifully and then went meh for a while, so I have been hoping they resume their former glory. Scroll down to find out if they did.

Here are the contents of the LookFantastic Beauty Box for August 2015.

I received:
  1. Eve Lom Cleanser and Muslin Cloth
  2. Rimmel Wake Me Up Mascara
  3. Alterna Caviar CC Cream
  4. Beauty Works 10-in-1 Miracle Spray
  5. Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder
  6. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist

Eve Lom Cleanser and Muslin Cloth

I had almost run out of my beloved Eve Lom Cleanser. This means I don't have to repurchase it just yet. It removes makeup thoroughly in one step without tugging or rubbing the skin, and without leaving raccoon-eyes. And, I am a sucker for any cleanser involving muslin.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Mascara

Some other people got a Rimmel Provocalips lip colour, reviewed here, and others got a Scandaleyes XX-treme Mascara. I wanted the Wake Me Up Mascara because I already have multiples of my favourite Provocalips colours and am not a huge fan of the Scandaleyes range. This mascara contains and smells of cucumber. I am so glad they are sending out makeup. From what I have seen of this mascara so far, it does make a difference to my non-existent eyelashes.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream

I have tried this before and loved it. It is a leave-in Cream for the hair and claims to offer moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, UV Protection, manageability, strength, anti-breakage and heat protection and light hold. I do not know if it does all that but it did make my hair feel good, less frizzy and in better health.

Beauty Works 10-in-1 Miracle Spray

Containing argan, linen seeds and macadamia, this is a nourishing, anti-frizz leave-in hair spray, which also claims to offer 10 benefits. They seem to have sent two hair products that claim to do exactly the same things. But I can use them and like both, so I am not complaining.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder

This is the one product I am least excited about in this box. Basically, it is 100% silver glitter powder that gets all over the place and stays put. I ought to know (she said, desperately scrubbing at her once jet-black suede purse). Bellapierre says this is 100% pure mica. It certainly looks it. I can't use it; when I do use highlighters, they are yellow-based and not silver. Will drop into giveaway box unless niece wants it for craft classes.

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist

I have loved whatever I have tried from Omorovicza so far and this face spritz is no exception. I do wish they had sent out a slightly bigger sample. It smells fabulous and this is ideal to slip into the purse when you go to work. I will repurchase this for the next Summer.

Verdict
Yes, this is a very good box, as good as the earliest boxes from LookFantastic. Two full-sized products is a very good deal, and two makeup products. Plus, Eve Lom! Believe me, if you haven't used their cleansers, you need to. I'm not thrilled about the Bellapierre silver fest but five out of six good products is not bad for £9.
You can still order the August box here. To subscribe, go here. I suggest a longer-term subbie so you don't feel you paid £15 for a box!
Next month marks the first anniversary of the #LFBeautybox so I hope they send us something as good. The September 2015 box is valued at £95 and has a special design - order it here. The tagline for the box is, "Prepare to be spoilt". Oooh, I am, I am!
