Ipsy Alter Ego Glam Bag for October 2015 Review, Contents

October 2015's Ipsy Glam Bag is themed "Alter Ego" - appropriate for Halloween. And, the bag itself has two sides - a gold lame side and a black vinyl side. The contents of the bag are supposed to help you "transform into whoever you want to be". I expected Fall products; orange makeup and pumpkin-based skincare.

Here is what I received in my Ipsy Alter Ego Bag for October 2015.

Here is what I got in my Ipsy Alter Ego Glam Bag for October 2015.

I received:

  1. Royal & Langnickel Medium Eye Shader Brush
  2. theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed
  3. Aurora Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Inky Dinky
  4. Ayres Hand Cream in Pampas Sunrise
  5. Peter Lamas Naturals Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub

Royal & Langnickel Medium Eye Shader Brush

You cannot have too many makeup brushes. The more you have, the less often you need to do a brush-laundry night. More rotation. More drying time. Less over-use and damage. Why am I hunting for excuses? Gimme all the makeup brushes!

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed

I am a sucker for matte liquid lipsticks and recently bought the shade "Charming" from theBalm - it is a lovely dusty mauve. This is more of a peachy-pink nude. I will swatch both shades for you together later.

Aurora Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Inky Dinky

I love blue nail polish. This is a lovely midnight blue that is super-shiny at first swatch. And gel effect without the hassle of LED curing sounds like a great idea to me.

Ayres Hand Cream in Pampas Sunrise

You can never have too many hand creams either. This contains lemongrass and patchouli and is paraben- and cruelty-free. I am adding this to my travel bag.

Peter Lamas Naturals Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub

Ah, there is the pumpkin-skincare I was expecting. This organic, vegan and cruelty-free scrub smells yummy, and is basically fine orange grit in a clear gel base. I have not tested it for long, but at first use, it is less abrasive than I expected. The delicious fragrance alone is enough to make me want to try out other Peter Lamas products.

Verdict

I am SO glad this bag does not contain travel-sized hair sprays or pencil eyeliners. I like and will use everything I got. There is a full-sized makeup brush and a nail polish, and a mini liquid lipstick, and just two out of five are skincare products. Overall, a very good bag this month.
The November 2015 Ipsy bag contains a mini Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara. TBH, I am not jumping with joy at the prospect, because I just bought the whole Sephora Favourites Lash Stash and have enough mascaras to last me through 2016. I hope the other four products are good enough to make up for it!
