LookFantastic Get The Glow Beauty Box May 2017 Review

My attempt at redesigning this blog continues; I now have even deeper dark circles! Pageviews have tanked (because I've clearly messed something up badly), so I would appreciate all the shares I can get, as I fill in with another quick post.
The LookFantastic Beauty Box for May 2017 is the Get The Glow Edition. I knew there would be at least one fake tan in there. You know it is Summer when you begin to receive fake tan products in beauty boxes. Nothing wrong - it's just that I have a lifetime supply. Possibly for two generations, even!
This month's box features a very pretty shaded pink design, and the Elle UK Magazine for May is also included.

Mellow Baked Eyeshadow in Cream

A shimmery neutral shadow that you can wear on its own or as a lid colour. Isn't it funny how, when beauty boxes include eyeshadows, the shades are almost always neutral? Few boxes will have a green or a pink eyeshadow.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel

I'm not sure what the active is here - I cannot find glycolic/lactic/any AHA/BHA/Vit C/retinol or traditional peeling agents I've heard of. This is a gel that you massage on for 15-30 seconds, and then you feel it warm up. Continue to massage for three minutes to reveal fresh, glowing skin. I've just undergone my third session for acne scar revision and my face feels sandpapered-off, so I'll pass on all peels and actives for the next few days.

System Professional Solar Oil

Oh, here it begins, I thought - but wait, turns out this is not a tanning oil. It is a photo-protecting oil for the hair. How cool is that? We tend to ignore our hair and scalp when it comes to sun protection. I myself have often ended up with sun-damaged, bleached and dry locks (Thank you, Rome!) so much so that SAs at Sephora have voluntarily come forward with products and sympathetic looks. I'm going to use this on Sunday, when I have an all-day event outdoors, and see how my hair does.

Glov Hydro Demaquillage

A reusable microfibre cloth that claims to remove all makeup with just water. Rather like the Makeup Eraser, which did not actually work for me. Only, this is a finger-glove and not a full cloth. And, this is a LOT softer. I'm going to use it as a face flannel to help with oil cleansing.

H20 Gradual Tan Mist

Ah, there it is. The tanning product. Goes into the giveaway box, along with a bazillion others.
I know South Asians have a reputation of being obsessed with lighter skin. Not this one. I never - repeat, NEVER - wore sunscreen until a couple of years ago; never saw the "point", and argued that sun exposure was "our heritage" (I'm wiser now, thanks to hyperpigmentation and skin damage), spent every second I could outdoors, and used Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs all the time. Kids, eh. Now, things have got (Wren & Martin does not recognise "gotten" as the past participle) out of hand and I've been sent at least two dozen fake tan tubes/bottles in the last one year. There simply isn't enough skin on me to use it all up before the expiry dates arrive.

Scrub Love Coconut Cranberry Body Scrub

Coconut Cranberry? Yum! This goes into my pampering basket. Thanks to a couple of lackadaisical weeks of no moisturising, my legs have turned reptilian again, so this will come in handy as I try to get my pins back to normalcy.

NuFace Prep-N-Glow Cloth

A dual-sided cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating cloth. Sadly, this one is not reusable. It goes into my travel bag - might come in handy during those long car rides or flights.

Verdict and where to subscribe

The LookFantastic Beauty Box for May 2017 contains five products that I can use, and one that I cannot. That's not a bad statistic at all. Three products are full-sized, out of seven. I only hope they do not include another fake tan product for the rest of 2017.
