Lori Greiner Spinning Cosmetics Storage Organiser review

Makeup storage ideas: Lori Greiner rotating cosmetics organiser reviewRemember when I showed you my brand new Etude House 360° Princess Rotating Makeup Organiser here, I told you I had a far nicer rotating cosmetics organiser? Well, this is the one, from QVC queen Lori Greiner. And, I blame Laura of My Newest Addiction entirely for making me want it. The moment I saw it on her blog, I was blown away and it went straight on my birthday wantlist. Thankfully, the fates my family decided to oblige.
While the Lori Greiner organiser does not hold even one-fourths of my stash, I use it solely to store my everyday makeup products - no cleansers, scrubs or sheet masks; no "special occasion" products, no nail polish and no lipsticks or coloured eyeliners and the like. My lipsticks and lip balms go into a separate drawer in my vanity anyway. Just whatever foundations, eyeshadows, primers, mascaras and skin care I use (even if I rotate) on a day-to-day basis.
For its size, it holds quite a lot. NINE long eyeshadow palettes. TEN compacts, be they foundations, blushes or bronzers. All the brushes you need in a routine.

Here is my review of the Tabletop Spinning Cosmetics Organiser by Lori Greiner.

Inside my travel makeup bag: Mid-2014

What I packed in my travel makeup bag: Mid-2014 edition
I have already done a detailed post on the contents of my travel makeup bags here, and one on my travel makeup and brush bags here. But I wanted to do an updated post on the contents of my travel makeup bag, particularly because it was the height of summer during this trip.
As you can see, I picked my spacious Debenhams makeup bag this time, and stuffed whatever did not fit into the nooks and crannies of my suitcase. Not pictured are brushes, since they are pretty much the same as the last time (see first link in the above paragraph).
I am not going to name or list everything like I did the last time, but will just give you a brief idea of what I packed.

Here is what I packed in my travel makeup bag to the Middle East.

Etude House Princess 360° rotating makeup storage organiser review

Makeup storage ideas: Review of Etude House Princess 360° rotating cosmetics organiser tabletopI have a dedicated, if small, vanity with drawers and shelves for my makeup and skin care stash. However, a number of sample and full-sized products that need trying out or using up, or that I use in my daily routine, end up scattered on my desk, and I hate to see them lying around. Worse, I tend to misplace vital tools such as stampers, nail art pens and hair brushes. That is where tabletop cosmetics organisers come in. I have the Lori Greiner Rotating Cosmetics Organiser, which holds everything I use on a daily basis. But that is for another post.
On May 15, 2014, Etude House released a rotating cosmetics organiser of their own, which they named the Princess 360° Makeup Table Organiser. While my trusty Lori Greiner holds all my daily-use products, I still needed something for all the samples, the to-be-tested products, and things I want to finish up soon. That, combined with the sheer cuteness factor of this storage pod, made me snap it up on the spot. Purchase details are at the end of this post.

Take a detailed look at the Etude House Princess 360° Makeup Table Organiser.

Contents of my travel makeup bag: Cosmetics I'm taking on holiday

Inside my travel makeup bag: How to pack cosmetics for vacations
I had shared some of my travel makeup bags last week. Here are the beauty and skin care products I have brought with me on holiday. Since I intend to shop for makeup, I haven't packed as much as I usually would for a 12-day trip. And, I've kept liquids to a minimum while travelling. I'm taking along a brush pouch which was a gift with purchase from Bourjois and a Debenhams Cosmetics Bag, both of which you can see in my previous post. Wherever possible, everything is travel-sized or a sample, to save space.

Here are the contents of my travel makeup bags.

Travel makeup and brushes packing tips and inside my cosmetics bags

How to pack your makeup and brushes while travelling and tips to choose the best cosmetics bagHow to pack your makeup while travelling and tips to choose the best cosmetics bag
By mid-next week, I fly to Doha, and I can't wait, mostly because it is well over a year since I last travelled abroad, and I don't like gathering moss, as it were. Anyway, about packing makeup, skin care and toiletries while travelling. I've just begun packing for my trip and thought I'd share my doings.
First, you need to choose a cosmetics bag for travel. Or more than one. There are plenty of good travel makeup bags out there. Picking one depends on the duration of your travel and whether you want one bag for everything. I say yes to the latter and I'll be away for 12 days. So, if you're not a very light traveller who makes do with one gloss and a BB cream and a toothbrush, don't take along a coin-pouch for your makeup. Here's my tip - choose a travel makeup bag with separate compartments for skin care, toiletries and makeup and even smaller compartments for brushes, including toothbrushes.

DIY makeup storage ideas: Storing nail polish bottles on the wall

DIY Nail polish storage ideas
I don't like storing my nail polish bottles inside a cupboard, drawer or shelf - I would always be taking out all the bottles anyway to compare and contrast and finally decide. But keeping around 198 bottles spread out would mean I wouldn't have space to walk around.

Beginning my beauty blog

How I began my beauty and makeup blog
After cramming quite a few shelves with makeup and skin and hair care products and after a three-year stint in feature writing and editing, I thought about starting my beauty blog. But beginning a beauty blog wasn't an easy decision. I have been a makeup addict for the last four or so years - a proud tomboy before that - but the idea of sharing my stash and makeup thoughts with people over the internet had never struck me, until sheer boredom on a slow day at work set in, and I began reading makeup blogs. The slow day turned into a slow week (lucky me!) and I decided to jot down ideas for my own beauty blog.
