Yes Style Beauty Sampling Box unboxing, review, photos: International beauty boxI had a bonanza of beauty boxes coming in on Tuesday, as you must have seen on my Facebook page - something to keep me happy while on the dentist's chair. And here is the third. This is the Yes Style Beauty Sampling Box and it ships worldwide. I paid $23.65 (it's listed as $24.90 now) and shipping is free for all orders above $25, so you might want to add a sheet mask or something to your order, as I did. Shipping is tracked.
YesStyle.com is a Korean cosmetics and accessories website, with worldwide shipping (from Singapore, according to my postmark). This is not a regular subscription, but a one-off sampling box. Each box will contain a total of 10 products, including items in a set. They have a "Korean beauty mix" in the boxes. You can order one, but there is no guarantee that a second sampling box will contain different products.

Here is my unboxing and review of the Yes Style Beauty Box.

Packaging of my Yes Style Beauty Box

HOW cute is this box? I must say this is the most appropriate design I've come across for a beauty box. Too bad it is only a one-off.

It came in bubblewrap. There was a vial of perfume as an extra - Salvatore Ferragamo's Incanto Bloom.

There is a letter from the CEO.

Contents of the Yes Style Beauty Box

Yes Style Beauty Sampling Box unboxing, review, photos: International beauty boxI received:
  1. Laneige Basic Step Trial Kit
  2. Etude House Dress Room Sweet Look Body Wash
  3. Skin Food GoldKiwi Hydrating Mask
  4. Missha Time Revolution White Cure Dark Control Cream
  5. Etude House Lemon Sheet Mask
  6. Dr Pharm Pomegranate Sheet Mask
  7. And another box from Skin Food, which I will reveal below - it is a bit of a shocker.
Let's have a quick look at each one.

Laneige Basic Step Trial Kit

This box contains four products - Power Essential Skin Refiner, Moisture Balancing Emulsion, Water Bank Moisture Cream and Water Bank Essence. A decent hydrating kit, something that my skin badly needs. I'll let you know how I get along with this.

Etude House Dress Room Sweet Look Body Wash

Oh my. Despite this tube being sealed, I can smell the fruity fragrance even outside the box. This is going straight to my shower. I can tell I'm going to love using this, though I cannot make sense of the name.

Skin Food GoldKiwi Hydrating Mask

I have read very positive reviews of the GoldKiwi Face Mask and can't wait to give it a whirl. There's enough for at least two uses.

Eeek - what is this obsession with becoming lighter-skinned? You wouldn't want to grow an extra arm as well, would you? Or get your pets and plants to become lighter-skinned? I wish humans would accept their colour the way they accept animals and plants. Since I - how do they say it - "run screaming for the hills" when confronted with skin lightening or whitening products, I will be chucking this out.

Sheet masks from Etude House and Dr Pharm

These feel heavy and packed with serum. I like sheet masks and will be using these once my face looks human (post-tooth extraction).

Yes Style Beauty Sampling Box unboxing, review, photos: International beauty boxAnd finally, Skin Food Gold Kiwi Cotton???

Blimey, did I just receive 25 cotton pads in a beauty box?!?!?!? What next, Q-tips? Or Band-aids? Toilet paper? It takes away from what is otherwise a very good box. I wish to goodness that they had included even a wet wipe instead of this. The only good thing is, as I am having my tooth out - by the time you read this, it would be out - I need cotton pads for some makeshift cleansing and to wipe off stuff. Still, not in a beauty box, please!
Bottom Line
The brands in here are all quite famous and there are no sachets! I loved everything in this box except for the whitening cream and the cotton pads, the last of which detracts a really decent beauty box. I just went over to the Yes Style website and some box pictures contain the cotton pads, so I should have looked closer - I have only myself to blame. I wish they'd included another sheet mask and maybe a hand cream instead of those two.

  3. LOLOLOL@the cotton pads. Honestly, I was hoping that they were infused with kiwi extract or something, until I read your comments. Haha. Chic and Alluring

    1. Blimey, that would have been decent! Sadly these are as plain as meh. I've been actually using them to mop up soup and drool since I had a tooth out yesterday. Gross, but that is how I feel about getting cotton pads in beauty boxes.

  4. Ooh looks really good! I actually buy cotton pads every time I'm in Korea so I feel like I wouldn't have been disappointed by them being in thre, haha.

    1. Hehe.. I would have been pleased if they were some kind of special makeup-remover- or moisturiser-infused cotton pads... mind you, they were handy over the last couple of days to wipe off the food, drool and blood post tooth-extraction.

  5. Totally agree with you on the whitening thing! Ugh I wish companies would have an opt out for boxes and such...I am really worried some sponsors are going to send me whitening things but I can't really say no...how can you say "Stop trying to make me white!!! I don't want to be white!!!" without offending them, lol.

My friend bought me both the Japanese and Korean sample satchels from YesStyle and they really weren't worth the $10-15 she paid for each. IMO this box isn't worth it either as most of these samples are very cheap on Tester Korea, but that's just how YesStyle is honestly. At least they gave you some good products like Laneige and Missha!

    1. Thank you! I am SO glad to find someone who agrees on the whitening thing. I want neither to lighten nor to whiten my skin, and every beauty company thinks I do. And these things won't work - if they did, the entire population of the world would need one shade of foundation haha and several racial features would be wiped out. Thanks for the tip on Tester Korea - will be sure to check it out.

  6. Hey Renu, so right I simply hate the "Get whiter tone" taglines... I love my wheatish complexion. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Btw I really appreciate the letter from the CEO, though not handwritten and probably part of all the boxes it still feels personal.

    1. Beats me why companies think everyone hates their skin colour. Beats me even more how people actually fall for it and believe you CAN change it!

  10. Wow, that is quite surprising. Was there anything special about the cotton pads? That's pretty disappointing. I heard Missha is a really good brand, I just haven't tried anything from that brand yet. Great review overall. I have to take a look into this.
