Memebox Skin Care box review, unboxing

Memebox Skin Care box review, unboxing
A number of you said in the giveaway post's comments that your favourite Memebox was the Skin Care box. Some of you emailed me to ask if this was a general box, so I decided to show you the Skin Care Special 9 Memebox first. This has been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks now, because of my schedule and the other posts lined up.
I am not going to insult your intelligence by telling you what this box is all about. The name is self-explanatory. And, this, being a Korean box, you know there will not be Strivectin or Nuxe. Speaking of those, if my folks decide to visit the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair in October (I went three years ago and it was brilliant), I know what to ask for Christmas. Back to the box. This was $23 and I ordered it at the time because there was a $15-off code doing the rounds. This box contains everything needed for a day and nighttime skin care routine, across skin types.

Here is my review and unboxing of the Memebox Special 9 Skin Care beauty box.

The contents of the Skin Care Memebox are:

  1. Dewy Tree White Dew 7 Cut Extreme Serum
  2. Dewy Tree Tea Tree Forest Powder Tones
  3. Secret Key Super Plumping Jelly
  4. Boscians Cycle Wrinkle Spot Repair
  5. Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence
  6. Nasarang Rose Balancing Toner
  7. Verikos Advanced Power Tightening Cream

Five out of seven products are full-sized. A quick look at each.

Dewy Tree White Dew 7 Cut Extreme Serum

This is meant to correct spots, freckles and uneven skintone. It does not contain parabens or mineral oil. Texture-wise, it reminds me of my favourite serum, Lancome Advanced Genefique. I will give this a try shortly.

Dewy Tree Tea Tree Forest Powder Toner

While this looks and smells great, my derm has put a ban on toners a couple of years ago for me, as all of them cause flaking, itching and breakouts - I have inherited a tonne of skin and food allergies from the maternal side - so this goes into the swap or sale box.

Secret Key Super Plumping Jelly

Almost all Memeboxes contain that one product that simply vows you and this box is no exception. This is a red jelly-like lightweight cream that looks and smells amazing - fruity - and is incredibly hydrating without greasing you out. I am definitely going to finish this jar. I also love that there is a spatula. Brilliant stuff, all year around.

Boscians Cycle Wrinkle Spot Repair

I do not have wrinkles yet, so this would be wasted on me. However, I will be trying this on my dry under-eye area where a wonky schedule since January has created a couple of issues. The smell is a bit strong, though.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence

Alice of W2Beauty had sent me a couple of samples of the Benton Snail Bee Essence and I had not been a fan then because of serious breakouts. This is supposed to soothe rough and damaged skin. Also goes into the swap or sale box.

Nasarang Rose Balancing Toner

What a cute bottle! I am in half a mind to empty the contents and fill it with my own cuticle oil or something. Again, toners and I have major issues, even though these toners are supposed to contain natural oils from three billion roses. Whoa.

Verikos Advanced Power Tightening Cream

I really wish Memebox had sent out the full-sized version of this instead of a 4g sample. This contains lotus flower, collagen, bifida and peptides. I have been using it on my neck - all face products begin on my neck and work their way upwards because of breakout issues - and I love how soft it makes my skin at night. I hope Memebox sends out the full-sized version in a future box.

Summary and deals
The redeeming features in this box were the Secret Key Super Plumping Jelly and the Verikos Tightening  Cream. Big hits! The rest of the products were a bit meh for me. Why were there two toners in one box? Why not send out a body lotion instead, since this is a skin care box?
Memebox has three new Princess edition skin care boxes out now - Snow White for brightening; Sleeping Beauty for night-time care and Rapunzel for hair. Bundles or value sets are here. Use code A3YF for $5 off.
