LookFantastic beauty box January 2015 unboxing

LookFantastic's New Year beauty box contains Molton Brown, Nuxe and more.

Review and unboxing of LookFantastic beauty box January 2015 - a UK beauty subscription that ships worldwide monthly.

I was not a fan of the December 2014 LookFantastic beauty box. It contained a collagen drink, a Lord and Berry clear lip gloss, a Murad cleanser I already have, and a Bourjois palette that fell apart within seconds of coming into contact with a brush, apart from small samples of Ole Henriksen facial oil and Elemis papaya peel, and a Macadamia Natural Oil comb I already have. Boo.
So I did not have great expectations from the January 2015 LookFantastic box. For those who came in rather late, LookFantastic beauty boxes ship worldwide each month from the UK and contain mostly British and European beauty brands. Each box costs £15 and is worth more. Purchase details at the end of the post.

Here are the contents of my January 2015 LookFantastic beauty box.

I received:

  1. Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche face mask
  2. Molton Brown Body Wash in Templetree
  3. Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence conditioning spray
  4. O'Right Golden Rose Oil
  5. My Vitamins Vitamin C 1000mg x 20
  6. Gatineau Strategie Jeunesse Eye Pads

First impressions:

Nuxe Creme Fraiche face mask 50ml

I have used samples of this before and LOVE it. I was going to buy the full-size in my next haul. Paraben-free Nuxe is a French natural skincare brand best known for its multipurpose dry oil, reviewed here. This mask contains eight plant milks, aloe vera sap and almond and orange flowers and hydrates and soothes the most distressed skin. I haven't had any breakouts with this - detailed review coming soon. Buy it here.

Molton Brown Body Wash Templetree 100ml

Molton Brown has to be my favourite body wash brand. I especially LOVE their pink pepperpod body wash. This time, I've got Templetree, which is a very pleasant honeysuckle scent. Trust me, the Pink Pepperpod body wash gives the most invigorating showers EVER. Buy it here.

Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence conditioning spray 60ml

After every hair-wash, I now spritz conditioning spray liberally on damp hair and find that it really helps with frizz and tangles. This helps prevent breakage and protects from heat. I keep running out of leave-in sprays and this is good to have, especially for travelling. Buy it here.

O'Right Golden Rose Oil

You had me at "Velvety Smooth and Tender Hair". I'm probably Hermione Granger's long-lost Muggle twin where frizzy hair is concerned and I become excited whenever there's a product that promises solutions. This is supposed to repair damaged cuticles and restore gloss, apart from deep-condition. It is easily absorbed and non-greasy. Trying it out tonight when I wash my hair for the first time after wisdom tooth extraction. Buy it here.

MyVitamins 1000mg Vitamin C

Twenty tablets of 1000mg Vitamin C, raspberry-flavoured. Whatever next in a beauty box! I take 500mg Vitamin C every day anyway so this will probably help save next month's medical bills a bit. Apparently you should mix these tablets in water and drink it, but I'm going to have a tablet and down it with a glass of water. I was that kid who hated syrups and would only take tablets - they don't stick around long enough to taste. Oh, and I'm old enough to think of medicine when I hear the word "tablet". Buy it here.

Gatineau Strategie Jeunesse Eye Pads

Anything for the eyes is welcome, particularly now that I've turned into some kind of nocturnal creature. You're supposed to apply these collagen eye compresses to the under-eye area and leave them on for a bit. This will be fun to use tomorrow and I really hope it works! Buy it here.

Verdict

You had me at Nuxe, not to mention Molton Brown. I love that there are a couple of hair products in here - goodness knows my mane needs a lot of work. I was a bit apprehensive after December because of Bourjois and Lord and Berry but LookFantastic seems to have listened to feedback and has sent out decent, non-drugstore brands.
The LookFantastic beauty boxes cost £15 each, though tracked shipping may cost more, depending on the country where you order from. Check out the February box here - it is worth £48, which is three times the cost
Apart from boxes, LookFantastic offers a wide selection of UK-, EU- and US-based brands. Check them out here. Use code LOVELF to get 15% off your beauty order.
