Beauty Advent Calendars 2018: Discount Codes And Updates

Very quickly, an update for you about all the beauty advent calendars of 2018, including discount codes.
I've already done a post here about more than 40 different beauty advent calendars available this year, and that post includes all the spoilers.
Here, I'm not going to be giving you spoilers. Instead, you'll find discount codes, along with what is already available now. I'm updating everything in the 40+ calendars post as well, but not everyone goes back to check, so this is all the latest information for you.
At one point, I was very unenthused by some of the advent calendars of this year, but that's gone now, and I'm very excited, particularly by some of these. Also, the discount codes make them all the more attractive - I bought Feelunique's advent calendar at some £39 OFF (including a bunch of Guerlain and Inkey List, but I only paid £119 for the whole lot).
I'm not counting the ones that are sold out already - Fortnum and Mason has come and gone, as did Harrods, but the latter has been brought back owing to major demand.

NUXE Beauty Treasures Advent Calendar For Holiday 2017: Ships Worldwide

Who else is a huge Nuxe fan? Their dry oil, reviewed here, is one of those products I've stuck to using from the time I got into beauty. It smells just like cupcake batter, and does a great job in hydrating my scalp and keeping the pesky flakes at bay. I also love their lip balm and hand cream.
Last year, Nuxe did an Advent Calendar (see here) that sold out very quickly. It was themed "10 Beauty Treasures". This year, they continue with the Beauty Treasures theme. The calendar contains 10 products, and comes in luxurious packaging. The products are worth £83, and the calendar costs £49.

LookFantastic Beauty Box January 2017 Review, Unboxing

The first LookFantastic Beauty Box of the year is here. It is themed the Beauty Revolution Edition, meant to overhaul our routine and help make new beauty discoveries. You would expect this box to be skincare-centric, but three of the products are actually makeup this time!
I love the positive design of the box itself. Lots of hope for the new year. The box comes with the January edition of the Elle UK magazine, and the regular beauty-box magazine, which is now glossy and contains breakfast recipe ideas and lifestyle articles, apart from more on beauty products.

Christmas Crackers are fun, nifty, inexpensive stocking stuffers than contain novelty items such as paper hats, joke gifts, whistles, and mini-perfumes. These days, they even contain beauty products.
Apart from stocking stuffers, these also make great party favours and hostess gifts, and don't break the bank. You don't even have to worry about wrapping them; they already look cute enough. Most of these are very generous, with multiple products inside.

LookFantastic Advent Calendar 2016 Beauty Secret Vol 2 Review, Contents, Unboxing; Comparison vs 2015

Stealth is not needed for this prey - you swoop right in, tearing, clawing and ripping with both hands. So much so that you barely remember to click some hurried photographs right where you are. The LookFantastic Advent Calendar has turned me into a mad predator for the second year running.
Measuring a massive 1'5''x12''x 6'', the Holiday 2016 LookFantastic Advent Calendar, titled Beauty Secret Vol. 2, is a heavy white and rose-gold box packed with 26, not 25, beauty products.
The 2015 LookFantastic Advent Calendar, reviewed here, measured 14''x11''x6'' in contrast. It was a white and yellow-gold box.
Because of last year's success, the 2016 LookFantastic Advent Calendar sold out on pre-order a full 24 hours BEFORE its scheduled launch date. I had posted spoilers here.
No way can I wait until advent. The box arrived; it was unboxed within minutes, as I hinted.

The 2017 LookFantastic Advent Calendar is available on pre-order here; I've just ordered mine.

Holiday 2016 Gift Guide: Best 10 Beauty Advent Calendars That Ship Worldwide

When I was growing up, my Dad and Gramps, both of whom worked in shipping, used to bring home chocolate Advent Calendars, with enough sweets to last until March. As an adult, I am addicted to Beauty Advent Calendars. See the best selections from last year here.
Beauty Advent Calendars seem to be more of a UK-centric thing, though brands in the US and elsewhere are fast catching on. So much so that the LookFantastic Beauty Secret Vol 2 Advent Calendar for 2016 has sold out while on pre-order - a good 24 hours before the release date. See the spoilers here. The 2017 Advent Calendar is available here.
With 12-25 beauty products that you can open each day of the Advent (or for the 12 Days of Christmas), what is not to love? Think of it as a best-of-the-year surprise beauty box. I've been showing you individual calendars over the last couple of weeks; here is the round up of the best ones currently available - they all ship worldwide.

Holiday 2016: Feelunique Magic of Beauty Advent Calendar Contents

Only a couple more beauty advent calendars left to show you for this season. This one contains a range of 12 products including makeup, and costs just £30. Yes, it ships worldwide. I also have Hallowe'en discount codes for you at the end of this email.
Last year, Feelunique brought out a beautiful 12 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar, which I unboxed and reviewed here. This year, Feelunique's advent calendar has been designed by fashion illustrator Meredith Wing (@moomooi). I had shown you an exclusive collection designed by @moomooi here. That the advent calendar is by her makes it more of a keepsake.

Beauty Products Emptied in October 2016 + Link-up

In October, my skincare routine has been more regular and diligent than it was in September. I have been going through a multi-step routine for the face every morning and evening, including double cleansing on most evenings, and have moisturised all over twice daily. I've used AHA/BHA acids and Vitamin C almost every day. See here for my 10-step skincare routine.

Best Skincare Discovery And Starter Sets

Ever invested in expensive skincare, only to find that the product does not work for you, or worse, breaks you out? I bought two bottles of Lancome Visionnaire as soon as it came out, after all the hype about the international waiting list. Wham - my face was an explosion in a fireworks factory. Luckily for me, I was able to palm them off on my Mum who was not affected adversely by the product.
Most brands do not give out samples these days unless you buy something from their counters first, which means you try-when-you-buy instead of try-before-you-buy.
Fortunately, several brands now offer discovery kits with trial sizes of their key products, so you can actually go through a whole routine for a couple of days, before deciding to invest further. Plus, these are ideal for travel.
Here are a few sampler kits that I have tried over the last few months - individual reviews to follow later. These would also make nifty gifts for Mothers' Day, birthdays or special occasions. Everything shown here ships worldwide.
Here are nine of the best essential skincare discovery and starter sets.

LookFantastic Beauty Box March 2016 Review

March 2016's LookFantastic Beauty Box is the #LFExplorer edition. It includes products from London, Paris and New York.
Some people seem to have received this month's Elle magazine with the box - I did not. Possibly because international subscriptions are exempt? I got a magazine last month, though. I have emailed them to find out why.
This month's box has a vibrant Spring-appropriate design. I do hope they do a Glossybox and have a different design for the box each month.

Beauty Products Emptied in December 2015 + Link-up

Four more days for the year to end. It has been a decent year for me - I hope 2016 is a happy and memorable year for all of us.
One of my beauty resolutions for 2016 is to be diligent about using up more makeup, and also to moisturise every day. I tend to skive off on "those" days, and a course of tetracycline (for acne) has left my elbows feeling dry. Another one is to work on getting rid of my acne and - this is the most important one - to arrive at a face care routine that does not break me out. You can see a bunch of anti-acne products among my empties here. Did they work? Find out.

Beauty Products Emptied in October 2015 + Link-Up

Have you begun your Christmas shopping yet? I worked on my lists over the weekend and finished the books-side of things. A large-print, leather-bound gilded library edition of Les Miserables for Gramps is the crowning glory. He can no longer read his tiny-print 1891 edition, so hopefully he will love this.
Eight more weeks and this year would have gone by. Now that the weather is dry, I have been using up intensive hydrating products on my skin and hair.

Here are the beauty products I used up in October 2015 and my thoughts on each.

LookFantastic Beauty Box July 2015

LookFantastic Beauty Box July 2015

For the last few months, I haven't been a huge fan of the LookFantastic beauty boxes. Vitamin C pills, diet pills, mouthwash and a gazillion mini pencil eyeliners turned up in rapid succession, so I didn't have high expectations from the July 2015 box - so much so that I didn't even bother to search for spoilers.
Thankfully, the July box is an improvement on the last few boxes and is as good as some of their earlier offerings.
For the uninitiated, LookFantastic is a UK-based company; they ship worldwide. Boxes cost £15, but an annual subscription means boxes cost £9 each. Not a bad price.

Here are the contents of my LookFantastic beauty box for July 2015.

LookFantastic beauty box January 2015 unboxing

LookFantastic's New Year beauty box contains Molton Brown, Nuxe and more.

Review and unboxing of LookFantastic beauty box January 2015 - a UK beauty subscription that ships worldwide monthly.

I was not a fan of the December 2014 LookFantastic beauty box. It contained a collagen drink, a Lord and Berry clear lip gloss, a Murad cleanser I already have, and a Bourjois palette that fell apart within seconds of coming into contact with a brush, apart from small samples of Ole Henriksen facial oil and Elemis papaya peel, and a Macadamia Natural Oil comb I already have. Boo.
So I did not have great expectations from the January 2015 LookFantastic box. For those who came in rather late, LookFantastic beauty boxes ship worldwide each month from the UK and contain mostly British and European beauty brands. Each box costs £15 and is worth more. Purchase details at the end of the post.

Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water review

Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water review
Makeup removal in the evenings is a compulsory ritual for me. One that I have grown to enjoy. A far cry from my university days when I would come home from some party or the other and just fall into bed, face-first, shoes and all. We have all been there.
I have more pores on my face than stars in the sky, so I need to get all the gunk out of them every day if I am to prevent breakouts. Worse, sometimes, the makeup remover itself may break me out. My skin is incredibly sensitve. Which is why I try to avoid oil-based makeup removers and anything with harsh surfactants. Even two-phase makeup removers have been known to break me out.
For those with sensitive skin, micellar water is a great makeup remover in lieu of harsher foaming cleansers or oil-based products. A "micelle" is a round group of surfactant molecules. Any product with surfactants will form round micelles. But unlike regular soapy water and two-phase makeup removers, the micelles in "Micellar Water" are incredibly mild and low-foaming, at the same time, they do a great job in cleaning the skin without irritating. They also form around toxic molecules, thereby making the product gentler and protecting the skin.

Read on for my review of the Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water.

Twelve favourite beauty products from early 2014

Twelve beauty discoveries from Jan-June 2014
This year, I have not come across any new foundations or primers that wowed me so far. Boo... hiss! My all-time favourite foundation continues to remain the Shiseido Sheer Mattifying Compact and my favourite mascara continues to be Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes.Nor did I come across an applicator that bettered my beloved Beautyblender either.
A number of my recent favourites are lipsticks, as I tried to move on from the discontinued Rose Garnet in Chanel Rouge Double Intensite.  And, I did discover my Holy Grail face serum. And a couple of lovely palettes and a brilliant eye primer, as you will see below.
These are pictured in no particular order, but the listing below is grouped into skin and hair care, eye palettes/makeup and lipsticks.

Here are 12 of my favourite beauty products from January to June 2014.

Beauty box from HQHair unboxing, review

Skin care beauty box from HQHair unboxing, review
Some days ago, HQHair.com, one of my favourite online shopping destinations for makeup, had an irresistible offer - a free beauty box as a gift with purchase, containing their editors' picks from high-end brands, if you buy for £45 from their website.
Who can possibly resist a free beauty box, especially a beauty box addict such as yours truly? I was going to get myself the full-sized GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment anyway, after loving the sample, so I ordered the pack and the GlamGlow Brightmud Eye Treatment (will review after using).
British-based HQHair ships worldwide and has express shipping with full tracking, so my order arrived within a week - just after the Easter break - and I didn't pay customs'duties for this. Best of all, HQHair - and their sister website LookFantastic - have similar offers from time to time. I got the entire Real Techniques Core Collection free once, and several other goodies.

Here is my free Editors' Picks skin care beauty box from HQHair.com.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-purpose Dry Oil review, usage, photos

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-purpose Dry Oil review, usage, photosFrom the time Feelunique sent me samples of the NUXE Multi-Purpose Dry Oil or Huile Prodigieuse in August, I have been hooked to it, purchasing the 10ml bottle in the NUXE Essentials Set and finally the 100ml bottle. As the name says, this is a multi-purpose product for the face, body and hair, though I use it as a regular overnight oiling treatment for my dry hair.
Any leave-in oil treatment usually gives me a stiff or sprained neck - always on the right side - the following day, even if I apply the oil for just an hour. This can last for a week and poses problems while driving (sprain-prone muscles inherited from aunt) and, if I dare to use an oil overnight, the stiffness can radiate from my neck all the way down my right arm. I use the Yarok Feed Your Youth serum for the scalp reviewed here, but that is for dandruff and you only need a few drops on flaky areas. I do experiment with new oils and suffer the consequences, but my dry hair does not get the much-needed deep conditioning that overnight oiling provides. My hair remained dry until the first sample from Feelunique came in.

Here is my review of the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil.
