LookFantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2015 Review

LookFantastic's Beauty Secret Advent Calendar for Christmas 2015 measures 14'' x 11'' x 6'' and contains 25 beauty products - a mix of makeup, bath and body, hair care and skin care products.
Sold out within a mere 48 hours of its launch, I bought it early enough and hoped there would be some balance between makeup, skincare and hair care. I also hoped, being a LookFantastic Beauty Box subscriber, that there would be few, if any, repetitions from their monthly boxes. And, impatient that I am, without waiting for Advent, here are the contents.

UPDATE: I've got my #LFAdventCalendar for 2016. You can view my unboxing post here.

The 2017 LookFantastic Advent Calendar is available on pre-order here; I've just ordered mine.

Packaging of the LookFantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2015

The box is sturdy. I am going to use it to store documents and certificates or my fountain pen collection or repair tools.
A spoof of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas is at the back. Note the beauty products all around. Nice attention to detail there, innit?

You get a hint of the product inside each day's "compartment" from the taglines and the image of a tiny hairbrush, pot, tube or lippie.

Contents and unboxing of the LookFantastic Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2015

Let's take a look at the swag in detail. Makeup first:

Nudestix Lip + Cheek Pencil in Satan
I always thought Nudestix only had shadow sticks. Nice shade name for inclusion in an Advent Calendar! This is quite red and therefore unsuitable for my yellow skintone but will go into someone's Christmas stocking.

BareMinerals Eyeshadow in Graphite
My first BareMinerals eyeshadow. Pigmented and creamy, this will pair beautifully with a beige on the lid.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Volume Flash Mascara
Apart from the lip crayon, which seems to be a mini, all the other makeup is full-sized. Woot!

Magnifibres Lash Primer
Containing hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B5 and peptide blend, this promises longer, thicker and silkier lashes. You can either wear it alone or follow up with mascara. I will be trying this out next week.

Lord & Berry Lipgloss
I am not a fan of lip gloss, but merciful goodness, there is only one lip gloss in the whole thing. It could have been worse. This goes into my giveaway box.

Eylure Lengthening Lashes 035
With help from Julie of Collective Beauty, I just placed an order for my first falsies when this turned up. Talk about ironic! Will try over the next week.

Innika Certified Organic Eye Liner in Black Caviar
This is the only makeup product that LookFantastic has repeated in their beauty boxes. Of course it had to be another black eyeliner pencil, but at least this one is full-sized and organic. Might go into a Christmas stocking.

Now for cleansers and masks:

Eve Lom Cleanser and Muslin Cloth
Ha! I knew this was the one spoiler they released - "Vogue's favourite cleanser". When it comes to makeup removal, you cannot do better than Eve Lom.

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment
Anything with GlamGlow is good in my book. This is the purifying clearing version, which means it is good for acne-prone skin. I used it last night and it did not tingle at all.

Nuxe Face Cleansing and Makeup Removing Gel
I am always running out of makeup removers, so this is a good choice. Although I love Nuxe, I have not tried this product before.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
Another repeat from the beauty boxes. Always good to have face masks.

Bath and body products:

Molton Brown Black Peppercorn Body Wash
I have said this before - Molton Brown is the BEST shower gel/body wash on earth. I adore their Pink Peppercorn, but am excited about trying the Black Peppercorn version. It smells deliciously spicy.

Monu Spa Relaxing Bali Massage and Body Oil
Something indulgent and pampering for the Holidays, this smells really nice. Now to reveal a truth: I hate massages. I am too ticklish and restless to cooperate and have had nightmarish experiences. On the other hand, I can give a mean massage.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream
I have been loving Caudalie face care products recently and it is nice to try their hand cream. First use - creamy, non-greasy and just indulgent.

Bubble T Hibiscus & Acai Berry Tea Body Lotion
Smells of peach iced tea. The "Don't Drink Me" warning on the label is a good idea. Paraben- and cruelty-free, this body lotion will definitely be repurchased after I run out of this 100ml bottle.

Hair care products:

Moroccanoil Treatment
Despite the 'cones, I love this stuff for keeping my hair frizz-free soon after washing. It also helps dry the hair quickly. This has been sent in their beautyboxes before, but I am not complaining.

Christophe Robin Prickly Pear Masque
This is also a repeat from the beauty boxes, but one I am delighted about. I loved the masque and it is good to postpone repurchase for a bit.

Paul Mitchell Quinoa Ultimate Colour Repair Triple Rescue
There are two "phases" in this bottle - the first phase is a heat protectant while the second is a conditioning complex with quinoa.

Redken Diamond Deep Facets Treatment
A conditioning treatment for dull and damaged hair, there is just about enough for one use on my  long hair, which needs all the moisture and nourishment it can get.

Tangle Teezer
The crowning glory is the Tangle Teezer in the 25th compartment. I already have a full-sized and a compact version each, so this one goes into a Christmas stocking.

Finally, face care:

Pai Rice Plant & Rosemary BioAffinity Skin Tonic
A vegan and cruelty-free spray for cleansed skin, this acts as a toner and calms the skin. It is alcohol-free and pH balanced, making it ideal for combination skin.

Cult 51 Face and Neck Cream
This is a "3D" luxury night cream for the face and neck. I had to google "3D cream" to find out that it was used to describe rich firming, lifting and hydrating creams.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
I love me a good face mist. This one is supposed to set makeup, hydrate and refresh the skin. Ideal for the handbag or desk.

Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion
I am so excited to try this - apparently it reduces fine lines in just two hours. Murad usually works well for me, so I have high hopes from this.

And St Tropez Instant Tan

Verdict
Quite a bit of loot to play with! I am officially addicted to beauty advent calendars (just like beauty boxes). This contains seven makeup products, five hair care, four bath & body, four mask/cleansing and four skincare products, and a fake tan. Always good to have new swag to try out. Five out of 25 items were repeated from their beauty boxes. Of these, I don't mind the Christophe Robin and Moroccanoil repeats. Not a bad first-ever beauty advent calendar, methinks.
As I said, LookFantastic's Advent Calendar 2015 is sold out now, but I want to mention two other Advent Calendars available now - Feelunique's Calendar is just £30 including free worldwide delivery (buy it here), while Keratase Advent Calendar contains 25 travel- and full-sized hair products from the brand (buy it here; free worldwide delivery). If you buy the Kerastase now, LookFantastic gives you a free beauty bag with products worth £50. Most Advent Calendars I mentioned in my Holiday 2015 Gift Guide are sold out now, with only Charlotte Tilbury remaining.
