Beauty Crowd Discover Box December 2015 Review

The review and contents of the inaugural Beauty Crowd Discover Box for December 2015. Nothing excites the beauty box junkie in me as much as the launch of a new beauty subscription. The latest arrival on the scene is the Beauty Crowd Discovery Box, featuring full-sized makeup from UK-based retailer Beauty Crowd. Saturated as we all are with all the mini hairsprays and toners, this is a welcome change.
I signed up for the inaugural version, which cost £15, with one promise to myself - if it contained a black pencil, I was out. The box sold out within a couple of days of its launch. Nothing surprising there - they had announced that this box would contain 10 full-sized makeup products.

The box itself is plain white, with the Beauty Crowd logo. Inside, the products are nicely wrapped in tissue paper.

I would have liked to see individual wrapping for the eyeshadows, since they can crack in transit, but no harm done this time.

.I received:
  1. LA Colors 3D Blush Contour Palette in Spicy
  2. Absolute New York Mood Lip Gloss
  3. Bell Hypoallergenic Triple Eyeshadow in No 9
  4. Freedom Professional Long Length Mascara
  5. LA Colors 5-Color Palette in Mesmerize
  6. Bell Hypoallergenic Liquid Eyeliner in 01
  7. Freedom Professional Pro Butters Lip Gloss in Capuccino Lover
  8. Absolute New York Beauty Mark Beauty Stamp
  9. Freedom Professional Mono Eyeshadow in Smoulder
  10. Bell Hypoallergenic Shiny Lip Gloss in 06
A total of 10 full-sized makeup products to play with. First impressions about each:

LA Colors 3D Blush Contour Palette in Spicy
For me, this is the big hit in this box. Before investing in a higher-end contouring palette, it is nice to have something with which to experiment. The colours are right up my street!
Absolute New York Mood Lip Gloss
This is supposed to change colour from clear to red, depending on the skintone. Kind of like the Mood Matcher lipsticks.
Bell Hypoallergenic Triple Eyeshadow in No 9
A trio of pretty neutrals. Good for everyday wear. I have liked the Bell (Polish brand) products I have tried so far.
Freedom Professional Long Length Mascara
I am all about longer lashes, since I only have stubs, so bring it on! I will not be opening this right now because I already have four other tubes open.
LA Colors 5-Color Palette in Mesmerize
Good to find some colour after the neutral trio. These are shimmery enough for the Holiday season.
Bell Hypoallergenic Liquid Eyeliner in 01
Black eyeliners, yes, but thankfully this is liquid. Will try it out once my Coastal Scents liner runs out anyday now.
Freedom Professional Pro Butters Lip Gloss in Capuccino Lover
I would have liked to receive a lip balm or tint instead of a gloss, since I don't wear lip gloss. Ah well, you cannot have them all.
Absolute New York Beauty Mark Beauty Stamp
A "stamper" that applies little black flowers on the skin - they wash off easily, like temporary tattoos. Not my thing, but should be fun for my niece.
Freedom Professional Mono Eyeshadow in Smoulder
I am officially a huge fan of Freedom Pro palettes - review coming up over the next couple of weeks. Pigmentation is mindblowing. However, I just bought some four of those palettes and this shade is already in at least two, so this goes into my giveaway box.
Bell Hypoallergenic Shiny Lip Gloss in 06
Yet another gloss. Again, I would have been happier with a tint or stain. This also goes into my giveaway box.

Verdict
So much full-sized makeup in one box is just what the skincare-overload doctor ordered. There is a nice mix of eyeshadows, blush/bronzer, eyeliner, mascara and lip makeup. I hope Beauty Crowd continues with this subscription.
The box cost me £15. Shipping worldwide is free for orders above £50 and £5.95 worldwide for orders below £50. Some of these may be used as stocking stuffers, but that is still a good deal.
While this box is sold out, the Bell Discovery Bag is still available at a discounted price of £10. Check it out here
I would have liked to see fewer lip glosses - there are three here - and proper lipsticks instead. Or maybe, a makeup brush. The contour palette is a gem, and - hurrah - NO black pencil! That alone makes me a sure-shot returning customer.
I also hope that the other brands that sell on Beauty Crowd - Milani, Jordana and so on - will be included in future boxes. Imagine if we got a few of those Milani bronzers and blushes or the Jordana Modern Matte lippies!
