Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Mural

Having a self-imposed purchase limit of 12 lipsticks this year, I have to pat myself on the back for having bought just four in six months - the first three were Jouer's new liquid lipsticks, which I need to review last month asap. Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Mural is my most recent purchase. This lipstick is not a recent launch, but it spoke to me as I dug around Space.NK.

The tube is a shiny metal fingerprint-magnet with magnetic closure. Feels nice an heavy. The bullet is shaped like a chisel and comes with an hourglass design. You either embrace the chisel shape or you hate it!
There are 16 shades in this range; mostly satin, with a couple of shimmers. The best part about these lipsticks is that they come with refills - yes, for each shade - so if you ever run out/hit pan/finish your tube, you can just buy a refill without buying a whole new lipstick.

I tried out four shades (Fresco, Vintage and Fawn) before settling on Mural. No prizes for guessing that it is a dusty rose. This is one of the creamiest lipsticks out there, and there is 100% pigmentation in one swipe. The bullet is very soft; not as easily melted as Too Faced La Creme, but soft enough to get marks from the tube when you apply. I was surprised by the staying power. I get five hours easily, unless I eat a greasy meal - slightly more than Nars Audacious. This lipstick looks very smooth and actually reduces my heavy lip-lines.
Swatched on bare skin in very overcast, cloudy light.

Verdict and where to buy:

A beautiful, smooth, creamy and pigmented lipstick that comes in 16 shades, so there is something for everyone. Staying power is quite decent for such a creamy bullet lipstick. I also love that this has the option of a refill, once I run out. This is my current favourite lipstick and I have been reaching for it almost everyday from the time I bought it. Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipsticks cost $30 or £22.
