Huda Kattan is Dubai's most successful beauty blogger. Her products always sell out in Sephora Dubai outlets - I ought to know, having been embroiled in a race for them more than once and come off worst.
Huda's Liquid Matte lipsticks come in 16 shades, from pale neutrals to 1990s browns and brights, deeps and vampy shades. These come with matching "lip contour" pencils - I haven't bought these yet because I'm one of those disorganised people who misplaces lip pencils (and tweezers and hair brushes) all the time and would have to spend half my life searching.

Packaging of the Huda Beauty Liquid MattesI love how you can see the entire tube from the external box. I also love the way the tube is arranged, within the pair of lips. The box slides out so you can get at the tube.
The tube itself is frosted and sturdy, and closes with a click. These have doe-foot applicators. Since they are so runny, you need to scrape off some excess product on the neck.
Formula, pigmentation and staying power of the Huda Beauty Liquid MattesHuda Liquid Mattes are the most lightweight liquid lipsticks I have come across. The formula is thin and watery. I found these easier to apply than other liquid lipsticks - they just glide on.
The fragrance is sweet and tropical, but goes away once you apply the product. The smell reminds me of the Jouer Long-Wear Lip Cremes, reviewed here.
Huda Liquid Mattes take longer to dry - a couple of minutes on an average - than other matte liquid lipsticks. Once dry, they feel comfy and lightweight. They are cruelty- and gluten-free.
Pigmentation is fully opaque on all the shades I have tried. Since these don't dry very fast, you can work as slowly as you want. These stay on all day unless you hit a very greasy meal. What they are not, is transfer-proof. No, they certainly don't smudge all over your face, but you'll see some colour on glasses, or your fingertip if you rub all over the place. There is no fading from the lips through the day, and they do not crack on the lips. I think the thin formula is what sets the Liquid Mattes apart.
- Trendsetter: Terracotta-clay on me. Shows up as a deeper clay-brown on paler people, obviously.
- Icon: Coral-rose on me.
- Trophy Wife: Medium mauve.
Swatches of the Huda Beauty Liquid Mattes in Trendsetter, Icon, and Trophy WifeTop to bottom: Trendsetter, Icon, Trophy Wife. On bare skin; one coat each.
You can see the edges haven't dried yet. These take around two minutes to dry fully.
I love how Icon looks on me. It gels well with my yellow undertones, and is a beautiful everyday shade. Trendsetter washes me out; Trophy Wife is the kind of shade I wear for special occasions.
Verdict and where to buy Huda Beauty Liquid MattesIf you hate liquid lipsticks, you will love how Huda Beauty Mattes are different from the usual flat, drying mattes. If you love liquid lippies, you'll be surprised by how thin and light these are. Do you need them? Yes!
I usually don't like to over-rave, and you know I actually trash quite a few products. This one? Huge hit. As I said, I've tried out more than 40 different brands of liquid lipsticks. I've been reaching for Icon pretty much every day since I got these, and will be repurchasing it forever.
Huda Beauty Liquid Mattes are £18 or $20 each, and come in 5ml tubes.
