Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Satin Lipstick in Perfect Day review, swatches

Ever bought a lipstick on an impulse, got complimented for it and then tried to repurchase only to find it out of stock? Yep, that's me.
I saw the Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipstick in Boots and loved the shade Perfect Day - other shades I wanted were out of stock. They had a 3-for-2 offer on the brand, so I picked two of these lipsticks and a body butter on an impulse.
I wore the lipstick to Oxford Street and two SAs in Selfridges wanted to know what lipstick I was wearing. Admitting to wearing a drugstore lipstick while in Selfridges seemed like a bad idea at first, so I took refuge in a paroxysm of coughing but told the second SA it was Soap & Glory.
"Are you serious? I thought it was some expensive brand! I need it!" she said.
There was only one thing to be done.
I crossed the road and hit Boots. Out of stock. Boots at Southfields - ditto. Boots in Shaftesbury Ave - same story.
It could have been worse; at least I have two lipsticks and not just one.

Doesn't that external box remind you of Dr Strangelove?

Everyone who was reminded of Dr Strangelove by the external packaging of the lipstick, raise your hands. The tube itself is metallic and reminds me of the Shiseido Perfect Rouge range.

Soap & Glory says these lipsticks feature "Ultimelt lipshine and shaping technology" and "3D Pump peptide complex". They also contain Vitamin E, shea and monoi butters, hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
The finish of these lipsticks is dewy and smooth. Pigmentation is full in one swipe and the formula is light and creamy.
Staying power is not that great. It disappears in a sarnie, but I don't mind reapplying after lunch or snacks.

Take a look at the swatch. It is not shimmery; that was because the sun turned up unexpectedly.

Here it is on the lips; a shade I can wear all the time:

Verdict

I love the shade I bought (Perfect Day); it is among my top three lipstick shades. I also liked Naked Beige and The Missing Pink from the tester tubes, but they were not in stock anywhere. They had two reds, but I was not interested. At £9 each, these are quality lipsticks that do not break the bank.
As with most bullet-lipsticks with dewy/shiny finish, you will have to reapply after eating or drinking, but the shades are pretty enough to make up for it. Despite the fun packaging, these are big girl shades.
Warning: These sell out ALL the time and are perpetually out of stock both in store as well as online. I found only two in some half a dozen stores in three cities in two countries.
Soap & Glory's makeup range is available in Boots UK as well as in Boots Dubai stores. If Boots delivers where you live, you can find this lipstick here. Read more about this range of lipsticks on the Soap & Glory website here
