Goals And Resolutions For 2017

Goals And Resolutions For 2017

Happy New Year! I hope you and your loved ones have had a great Holiday season, wherever you are around the world. I also wish each of you a very fruitful and prosperous 2017!
2016 was one of the three worst years of my life. I spent the first few months hiding at my parents' place, not even stepping out to sign for packages, with my face ravaged by a terrible breakout. Things began looking up from the mid-year, and I am due to start subcision for the scars from January 18.
For 2017, my goals are as follows:

Personalised Blog, Life and Work Planners for 2016

Have you got your planners for 2016?  I ordered mine a few months ago. As soon as I learned to write, I had begun keeping a daily diary and had wall-planners from my high school days, but swapped both diary and wall-planner for a planner notebook two years ago.
I patronised boringly respectable, dour business organiser-style planners, but decided to go in for something more fun this year. But you cannot take the nerd out of me at one go, so I got two planners from personal-planner.com - a formal planner, and a somewhat more fun planner for the blog.

Scroll down to check out these personalised year planners for 2016 and where you can buy them.

Blog Planner Giveaway Results

One more week till the year ends. The good news is, this blog will be celebrating its third birthday in three weeks' time. And yes, there will be more than one multiple-prize makeup giveaway to mark the milestone. Along with another beauty-history post.
Just to make something clear - I will be posting the planner ONLY after the 28th, because of the Holidays. Even so, I highly recommend posting after Jan 1st, to avoid being caught in the backlog of Holiday post.
But first, the winner's name.

Daily Planner Giveaway: Open Worldwide

As 2015 draws to a close, you must be thinking about getting your 2016 diary, planner and so on. I usually receive formal corporate ones.
For newbies, or fans of basic planners, here is your chance to win a daily planner for yourself. This is not a custom planner, and is rather basic, but it is a good way of staying organised through the year. The giveaway is open worldwide, although I cannot guarantee delivery before the New Year, due to postal delays.
Despite the title of "Blog On", you will notice from further pictures below that the planner is not intended for just bloggers, but for anyone at all! This is sold by Amazon and you can read reviews/get more information here.

Scroll down for more photos, rules and to enter the planner giveaway.

Petition to Memebox to restore shipping worldwide

Petition to Memebox to restore shipping worldwide, including to India, Malaysia, Israel, Mexico and other countries.Dear reader (yes, you),
You have been a huge source of support and inspiration for my blog, and now I need your assistance to get our collective hands on a beauty box. I'll tell you how you alone can help me out.
Since mid-2013, My Beauty Junction has been a blog devoted especially to finding beauty boxes that ship worldwide. You can see my unboxing posts and beauty box reviews here.
Some of you must have read my posts on Memebox, a Korean beauty box that offers great value for money. You are looking at previous Memebox photos in this post.
My blog has sent them several customers from within and outside my country, and more than 60 boxes have been pre-ordered by customers from my country alone (that I know of, lol). There has been neither postal delay nor customs hassle till date, as far as Memebox delivery is concerned.
On March 31, Memebox stopped shipping worldwide, and restricted themselves to the US, Japan and Canada. I received this news with disappointment, but Memebox promised to ship worldwide again soon.
Read on to find out what went wrong.

Hallowe'en mani 3: Skulls and skeletons on my nails

Skull manicure for Hallowe'en nail art challenge with OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts
Here's my input for Crumpet's Nail Art Challenge for Hallowe'en 2013, themed "Skulls and Skeletons".
I used: O.P.I. French Quarter For Your Thoughts, Konad Special Black and Konad stamping plate m28. I ended up smudging the stamping on the pinky as I tried to open my camera's lens cover. Welcome to My Klutz Junction.

Hallowe'en Special: Seven Deadly Sins link party

No, not the Seven Deadly Beauty Sins post (here). This is a link-up for Hallowe'en that I found on Nina's Bargain Beauty - who in turn found it on Whispering Sweet Nothings. And since my NaNoWriMo 2013 project is titled (for now) "Seven Deadly Shimmers" (christened by one of the more creative people on their forum), I figured the timing was right for me to do this link-up.

What's in my shower?

My shower routine involves a mixture of products every few weeks, and I don't really wait for a set to finish before I switch around. I was tagged by Tshering of TiTi's Corner for this post, so you can see my bath and body products-of-the-moment for yourselves!
The bathroom's main colour scheme is blue, and it is marine-themed. I've got dolphins on the wall, waves on carpets and toy fish that grow in size when you drop them in water on my shelves. Incidentally, interior decorating is one of my passions and this is where I began experimenting. I've designed five (much better) bathrooms after this. Here are a couple of the shelves:

The A to Z of my beauty stash, with 25 makeup must-haves

The lovely Alice Waude of Underneath The Beauty tagged me for this post, and it is another fun way of showing off one's makeup stash. Incidentally, she invented the tag...wow! Please do check her blog out, I love reading her reviews. Sorry it took me so long to do this, Alice. I went through everything at least three times to find Q and V and still haven't found an X :(
What you have to do is pick your favourite item for each letter of the alphabet - it can be the brand, the product or the shade name. (Pictures optional)
Here are my beauty ABCs:

Beauty Blogger Tag

One of my earliest beauty-blogger friends and my first box-swap buddy, the lovely Elle May, tagged me on this post. Please do visit her lovely blog - she has a great sense of style and beauty and, her sister does some amazing layouts.
Here are the rules to do this tag:
1. State who the tag was created by: The Beau Bow
2. Tag five beauty bloggers, and
3. Title this like I have done to state what the tag is about.

Rainbow Beauty Tag

I saw DeBresha do this post and thought it might be fun to give it a shot and share a bit of my stash. What you need to do is pick seven items from your make-up stash that are the colours of the rainbow (the actual lotion/cream/powder product itself, not the packaging!) and post them. I had thought this would be an easy post, but all those gorgeous green and purple tubes contained white gloop. I've tried to keep myself from reaching out for the eyeshadows and the nail polishes all the time, especially for the trickier colours. So I decided to limit it to a maximum of two colours for polish/eyeshadow/eyeliner alone. Here goes:

Violet
Sephora Eyeliner, Too Faced Eyeliner, Accessorize Eyeshadow

Indigo
Wiki describes indigo as a "deep and bright blue" so here are Essie Aruba Blue and the gorgeous O.P.I. Yoga-ta Get This Blue (finally got it).

My Seven Deadly Beauty Sins

I was tagged by Tshering for this post and my current writing assignment comprises characters with the seven deadly sins, so I thought applying the sins to my make-up addiction would be fun. You can also read Louise's post on this. Here goes:

1. GREED: What is your most expensive beauty item?
Lancome Visionaire. Bought two for S$180 each last December, with a gift with purchase. Still.... And I  don't know how well it works because I use it only when I'm feeling way too extravagant.

My first beauty box swap featuring makeup, skin care and other goodies

Last month, the lovely Elle May had asked if I wanted to do a beauty box swap with her. I was apprehensive about the postal services. But I was so excited about it nonetheless.
Elle and I had agreed on a budget of £25 excluding postage, though we did include some gifts in our respective boxes :D We discussed likes, dislikes and allergies and had such fun over quite a few emails. Elle got the box I sent her safe and sound. Her parcel to me arrived on Saturday and I was so thrilled, I almost opened it then and there before realising I needed to take photographs.

Recent tags and awards

So here are my recent tags and Versatile Blogger Awards, thanks to some very lovely people.

Nadja of Throw Me Something Beautiful has tagged me on the This or That post. Please do check out her blog, she has a great giveaway going on. I'm so, so sorry it took me ages to do this, I've been buried in a mixture of things from family issues to work. Anyway, here are my answers:
MAKE-UP
Blush or Bronzer? Bronzer. Only certain non-shimmery dusky rose blushes look good on me, and I love the contoured look bronzer gives you.
Lip gloss or Lipstick? Lipstick FOREVER! I do not use glosses, unless they're plain clear ones over really drying lippies.
Eyeliner or Mascara? Eyeliner. Whether I use mascara or not, my lashes don't really stand out, but eyeliner really brightens my eyes.
Foundation or concealer? Foundation. If I do concealer alone, you'll know I'm wearing it on certain spots. Ewwww!
Neutral or Colour Eyeshadow? Both! I like matching my shadow to my dress unless it's an outlandish colour, so I would say colour - by a thin margin.
Pressed or Loose Eyeshadow? Pressed! As it is, I get it all over my cheeks and have to reapply my foundation. Argh!
Brushes or sponges? Depends. For shadows and bronzer/blush, I use brushes. For foundation, I use a sponge.

The procrastinating beauty blogger tag

I was tagged by Danielle of KalamityJanekosmetics. I love her blog, especially her FOTDs and eyes. I would give half my eyelashes to be able to apply eyeliner the way she does.
Rules:
1. You must copy and paste these 'rules' onto your post when you write it, it doesn't take long!.
2. You must state that this tag was created by 'The Beau Bow' and link www.thebeaubow.blogspot.com

One day to go... One month to go...

I'm on the last day of my shopping ban! Tomorrow, I shall order a Konad stamper. And treat myself to a Lush haul over the next two days. And, maybe, Lancome. And a few others. Watch out for quite a few haul posts!
I also have one month to go for my birthday (April 14) so I'm making a shopping and wishlist. Watch out for a giveaway to celebrate my birthday and 100+ followers (I'll have to decide between Rafflecopter or another method; I'll hold a poll next week).
