Best Beauty Products of 2017: Skincare Favourites

I spent the major part of the last weekend ruminating over my wardrobe - as everyone, from my Mum and Gran to my friends, keeps telling me, it is boh-ring, old-maidish, and predominantly black. So I went out hunting for new outfits and came home with two - both black.
Mum came to see for herself, and lost it. She has now taken matters into her own hands. Apparently, for her Christmas present for me, she's taking me shopping in the last week of the year (I forsee getting half my hair pulled out in the mad crowds), and will CHOOSE my outfits. I also forsee some rather colourful rows.
She is right, though. From the time I started dressing myself, I've been choosing outfits that actually make me seem older, not younger. My favourite kind is the classic-length shift dress, and I own a few dozen of these in BLACK alone. I can see why she wants to take drastic action, although there is no way I can explain why I gravitate towards the same kind of clothes so much.
Before the chaos due to erupt during the wardrobe-revamping process, let's get this year's Best of Beauty series out of the way. I've started with skincare; stay tuned for makeup posts!

Beauty Products Used Up in November 2017

How are you coming on with your Holiday shopping? Mine is all done, and I even did my wrapping over the weekend, which is the part I hate the most. Now to get out the tree and decorations.
Thanks to a bad anaphylactic reaction which landed me in hospital in late October, I haven't used up too many products in November - just very essential skincare; no retinols, far milder Vitamin C than the 30% I'm used to, no facial oil... you get the picture.

Beauty Empties For August 2017

I only managed to use up a handful of products in August 2017. It has been a distracting month all around. I hope September is more stable.
Among my empties for August 2017 is one of the best facial oils ever, and the best rosehip oil I've tried (out of three different brands). Not much by way of makeup in here, save for the one mini-sized item. You'll see it all below.

Beauty Products Emptied in June 2017

I'm going to be travelling from the second week of July, so my mid-year makeup haul will be from Selfridges, Boots, Harvey Nicks, and so on. As I have been on a shopping ban for a while, I'm making a rather large list of makeup to get. Recommendations welcome.
But all that is a good month away. Here's what I used up this month - featuring my favourite Vitamin C.

The Hero Project Vit C 30 is the Best Vitamin C Ever

About a year ago, my skin discovered the amazingness that was Ascorbic Acid, or Vitamin C, after a bad breakout left hyperpigmentation on my olive skin.
I began with a 12% formulation, before moving up to a potent 21.5% L-Ascorbic Acid from Korea. My hyperpigmentation began to withdraw - I've mentioned the product several times in my empties' posts, and used up more than four bottles.
Until.
The unstable L-AA not only turned deep orange within three weeks of opening - despite 24x7 refrigeration - but it also ruined my fingernails, turning them orange and brittle, and making my nail beds turn black. This was more than I could take, so I began looking for an alternative Vitamin C serum.
I tried more than a dozen - stay tuned for a comparison post - and wasn't too delighted with anything, until I was browsing around during a haul on LookFantastic, to avail of free shipping. That is when I spotted The Hero Project Vit C 30 Ultra Brightening Serum. Yes, that IS 30%. "Ultra Brightening" being the operative phrase here.

LookFantastic Beauty Box February 2017 Review

LookFantastic's Beauty Box for February 2017 is the Runway Edition, containing "opulent beauty products, with innovative ingredients" - products that can make you runway ready this February. A nice change from the Valentine's Day overkill we have been seeing this month.
I love the royal purple minimalistic box. The box is accompanied by the Elle UK magazine and the regular LF Beauty Box magazine.
