LookFantastic Beauty Box July 2015

LookFantastic Beauty Box July 2015

For the last few months, I haven't been a huge fan of the LookFantastic beauty boxes. Vitamin C pills, diet pills, mouthwash and a gazillion mini pencil eyeliners turned up in rapid succession, so I didn't have high expectations from the July 2015 box - so much so that I didn't even bother to search for spoilers.
Thankfully, the July box is an improvement on the last few boxes and is as good as some of their earlier offerings.
For the uninitiated, LookFantastic is a UK-based company; they ship worldwide. Boxes cost £15, but an annual subscription means boxes cost £9 each. Not a bad price.

Here are the contents of my LookFantastic beauty box for July 2015.

  1. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil
  2. Trilogy Everything Balm
  3. Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash
  4. Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo
  5. Monu Fiji Facial Oil
  6. Lord & Berry Lip Liner
LookFantastic Beauty Box July 2015

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multipurpose Dry Oil
They can send me all the Nuxe dry oil bottles ever and I won't complain. Smelling of cake mix, this non-greasy, light oil is the only oil ever that won't give me a stiff neck when I apply it to the hair. I have reviewed it here and will repurchase it forever.
Buy it here (GWP if you buy any two Nuxe products)

Trilogy Everything Balm
I have heard loads about this multipurpose balm - apparently you can use it anywhere on the face and body. It melts on contact with the skin and contains organic marula and rosehip oils, olive, jojoba, avocado, honey and Vitamin E. I am keeping this for the dry weather.

Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash
This is for normal and combination skin and is 98.8% natural. Made in the UK, this brand is free of parabens, sulphates, phthalates, mineral oil and other skincare villains. I used it last night and it felt gentle on the skin. Will continue to use.

Monu Fiji Facial Oil
Facial oils are all the rage now. The oils in this seem to be apricot kernel, grapeseed, hazelnut and rosewood oils. It is cruelty-free. Monu is such a big name in skincare and is found in pharmacies all over Europe. I'll give this a try soon.

Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo
I only CO-wash my hair now, but because this is SLS-free, I might give it a try. It should help in getting rid of product build-up. This is a 50ml tube, and is suitable for all hair types. This is a gentle clarifying shampoo and the makers recommend using it once a month or so.

Lord and Berry Lip Liner pencil - mini
Seriously, why do they send Lord & Berry products in beauty subscription boxes? I hate getting mini pencils so much, I probably need anger management therapy. Going to my give-it-away box unswatched. It is the one product in this box that I cannot use.

Verdict

A much better box than recent editions. I'm happy to see some cult favourites and some good brands in here. That said, can we never see Lord and Berry again? At least, not until 2100 A.D. Thanks.
Also, I've noticed that the value of the boxes seems to be diminishing. The June box was supposedly worth £53, but the contents of the July box are marked at £45. I hope that trend does not continue.
And, it would be good to see some variety. Some makeup. There are a gazillion brands on LookFantastic and, for some reason, Balance Me, Nuxe, Lord and Berry, Korres and a couple of other brands seem to be repeated in every other box. Could we see some new brands next month?
If you want to subscribe, you can do so here. There are options for long-term subscriptions, and you can pre-order individual boxes well in advance.
