Vegan Cuts August 2016 Beauty Box Review

With postal systems across the world being paranoid about terrorism right now, every package coming into and going out of any country is taking ages to arrive at their ultimate destination. That's why I only got my August Vegan Cuts beauty box in September. At least they didn't confiscate the whole thing and accuse me of smuggling state secrets.
Vegan Cuts is a cruelty-free, vegan beauty subscription that ships worldwide. The boxes contain a mix of four to seven makeup and skincare products, including full sizes, and the average worth of a box ranges from $40 to $60. Best of all, they promise never to include a foil sachet. This alone makes them look good in my book. They will be releasing a quarterly makeup-only beauty box shortly.

I received:
  1. Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Wipes
  2. Pacifica Natural Color Quench Lip Tint
  3. Adorn Cosmetics Illuminiser
  4. DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub
  5. Green & Gorgeous Organics Lavender and Bergamot Dry Shampoo
This box also contained a full-sized nail polish. However, you cannot send nail polish via airmail - and, if they had included it, the postal people would have confiscated it anyway, so I received only five products.

Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Wipes

Full-sized. THIRTY wipes. Usually, you get l'il pouches with two, five or ten wipes at the most. Why cannot other beauty boxes learn from this? A full-sized product that everyone can use for something or the other. I love the Yes To line and these, contrary to expectations and unlike other wipes, are actually black! These are infused with charcoal, watermelon, witch hazel, aloe and tomato extracts and contain no silicones, parabens or SLS. Perfect for travelling.

Pacifica Natural Color Quench Lip Tint

I received the shade Sugared Fig, which looks purple-maroon in the tube. There isn't much of a tint to this product on me, but I'm happy using it as a lip balm. And LOOK at that packaging. I will slip it into my handbag - this tube is too pretty to be hidden away on my vanity.

DermaE Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

My first DermaE product. I have been hearing great things about this cruelty-free brand on other blogs and am glad to have a chance to try it out. Again, this scrub contains charcoal as well - this must be Vegan Cuts' detox box. A nice sized scrub to slip into my travel bag.

Green & Gorgeous Organics Lavender and Bergamot Dry Shampoo

Perfect for my upcoming trekking break. I just ran out of the Yarok travel-sized dry shampoo I got from A Beautiful World. Always good to have these - and the beauty of it is that these are not sprays, so I can take them along in-flight. This one smells lovely.

Adorn Cosmetics Illuminiser

A cute l'il illuminiser/highlighter from Australian brand Adorn. I have to be careful with highlighters on my skintone - the silver-toned ones and the pinky ones look weird on my yellow-toned skin. This one, thankfully, is peach-toned. Just the way I like 'em. And the powder is finely milled.

Verdict and where to subscribe to the Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

I LOVE everything I received. I admit to being disappointed at missing out on the beautiful nail polish, but I suppose there will be problems with international post unless the impossible happens and we finally achieve lasting world peace (much to the chagrin of arms manufacturers, mercenaries and politicians).
Even excluding the polish, there are still two full-sized products in this box, and two makeup products (the highlighter and the tinted balm). Nice balance. Vegan Cuts is one beauty box where you get your money's worth - go here to subscribe. Boxes are $22.95 - $18.50 with an annual subscription - a month, with shipping extra depending on where you live. With the average worth of a box between $40 and $60, and no foil sachets included, that isn't a bad deal at all for four to seven cruelty-free makeup and skincare goodies.
Apart from the monthly subscriptions, Vegan Cuts also offers special-edition beauty kits seasonally, with full-sized products. Stay tuned for what they do with the upcoming makeup only box. I can't wait to see the contents!
