LookFantastic Best of British Beauty Box August 2016

I went to university in the UK, and had a lovely time in the aisles of House of Fraser, Debenhams, Boots, Selfridges, Harrods, and Superdrug, despite being on a student budget. So when I found that LookFantastic's August 2016 Beauty Box was themed #LFBestOfBritish, my excitement and expectations hit the roof. So many of my favourite brands are British, and LookFantastic itself retails worldwide from the UK. I did, however, expect the box to be primarily skincare.

Scroll down for the unboxing of the LookFantastic Best of British Beauty Box for August 2016.

Bee Good Vanilla and Honey Lip Balm

I love honey-based skincare, and this lip balm smells wonderful. It contains honey, beeswax and borage oil and is healing my flaky lips nicely.

Renu Lip and Eye Active Lift

I love Renu skincare - not just because that happens to be my name (it's supposed to mean "atomic" - most people take it to mean minuscule dust; my parents meant "fundamental particle". I prefer "capable of destroying large cities). What I do not like, however, is multi-functional skincare. Argh. I refuse to consider applying the same thing on my lips and around my eyes. This will be used as an eye cream alone.

Percy & Reed Wonder Balm

I just talked about Percy & Reed haircare in my empties' post last week. This is a smoothing base to tame fly-aways and hydrate the hair. It's Percy & Reed - it WILL be awesome.

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum

To be honest, I haven't had much luck with Balance Me skincare - most of what I have tried so far has broken me out. This contains antibacterial May Chang (litsea), lavender and eucalyptus. I'll do a patch test and see if it works out. If not, I'll pass it on to a friend who has acne.

Bloom and Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Spritz

For some reason, LookFantastic has given us two facial mists this month - maybe one is for night-time use while the other is anti-pollution? This spritz contains just 11 all-natural ingredients, including horsetail leaf and gotu cola. It helps reduce dullness, fine lines and wrinkles and promises a radiant complexion. I will be using it in my evening routine.

REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist

I have the full size of this and LOVE it. This is the perfect facial spritz for the daytime. It's primary function is to block pollutants and to reduce oxidative stress. It contains zinc and manganese amino acids and feels very refreshing. I will be keeping this sample in my handbag.

Verdict and where to subscribe to the LookFantastic Beauty Box

I think LookFantastic puts the great stuff and makeup in alternate months' boxes. Everything in this box was skincare. If you are - like me - a skincare junkie, you will love the contents of this box. I will use everything apart from the Balance Me serum, and I already love the REN anti-pollution mist and the lip balm. That said, I do think some huge British brand names have been left out - I would have loved to see Oskia, Aurelia Probiotics, Pai, Antonia Burrell, Illamasqua, Sarah Chapman, and so on in this box.
For makeup lovers, next month's box is going to be very exciting. The September LookFantastic Beauty Box is their anniversary special, and it will contain a BareMinerals Moxie lipstick, among other things. The box costs £15 but a longer subscription - you do not have to pre-pay - will bring down the price of each box to £11.25. Get your #LFBeautyBox here! They shipped tracked worldwide for free, and the boxes sell out very quickly, so hurry!
