Tagged: Confessions of a blogger

Sinead from Natural Beauty tagged me on her confessions. I'm going to answer mine:

When did you start your blog?
On January 15, 2013
Have you had any online presence before (Other blog, Youtube)
This is my fifth blog over the years - the first four were on book reviews, writing and antiques and collectibles. There was little interest in them and I stopped posting, after a while :(
Why did you start a blog?
I need to write something everyday - be it in my journal or online. If not, I feel that there's something incomplete. I have this cycle of journal-fiction-blog writing almost every day (sometimes it's just journal).
Specifically about this blog, I was reading a lot of beauty blogs and my friends were asking me for tips and suggestions. Finally one of them said I ought to share my products, photographs and opinions as well.
When did you become serious about starting a blog?
I've been serious about blogging right from my first-ever blog, which was personal, but then I forgot the password!
What was your first post?
My first post on this blog was called "What is My Beauty Junction?" Cringeworthy. Let's not talk about it anymore.
What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
The photographs. I can't tell one end of a camera from the other. Beats me how some of you get these stunning shots. I can never visit Scrangie's blog without envying her photographs. She should work for the National Geographic.
Where do you see your blog in one year?
Going really strong? Hopefully with a better design and better photographs, more followers, reviews of latest products, regular international giveaways, guest posts and even working with companies and magazines?
What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
I can write whatever comes to mind without worrying about word count, alignment, spacing, plot, dialogue, intro and what-not. And connecting with people who have the same passions as I do is very important to me. I love reading other people's reviews and making decisions based on them (e.g. I want to buy Maybelline Rocket mascara based on a review by Hannah of Hannah Hearts). Being told that someone is going to try out something based on your review is a huge boost!
What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
I agree with Sinead - trolls and haters. Over the last one week, I've got a million anonymous spam comments advertising all kinds of things. I've deleted them all. This is a beauty blog and I am a woman! I don't need male er... "stuff" (there must be under-18s reading this so I won't even tell you what the comments said, though we've all got them in our email sometime).
What is your lasting inspiration or motivation?
Your lovely blogs and your helpful comments :) And blow-my-mind beauty products or nail art.
I'm tagging:
Hanzy of Just Some Thoughts
Meesha of Strawberry Hearts Chocolate Darts (I love her blog name)
Revathy of Health and Beauty
Everyone else, really :)
