Pastel nail art for spring with Ciate Pepperminty nail polish

Pastel spring nail art with Ciate Pepperminty nail polish
For once, I have actually picked a pastel nail polish for spring/summer. I normally love fall polishes for all the year round. Did I mention how obsessed I am with Ciate nail polish now? I wore Pecan Pie for my previous manicure. This time, I picked Pepperminty. The photograph above was taken in artificial light, so it looks a tad bluer than it actually is. But I have more photographs in different light conditions below.
Pepperminty is a fresh minty-turquoise creme nail polish, which goes on opaque in just one coat, though I wore two. Thick, creamy and very O.P.I.-creme-like, this polish is why I want all of Ciate's collections. This is what Pepperminty looks like on its own, without topcoat, in natural light:

The photographs above and below were taken in natural light. The brush is superb and drying time is decent. I applied this mani on Friday evening and have not had tipwear or chipping yet.

This time, I opted for freehand nail art - something I suck at, but I am determined to plod on until I can draw horses, flamingoes and Tinkerbell on my nails and make all three look different and recognisable. I picked the Models' Own Artistix Nail Art Pen in Pastel Lilac, and, using the pen nib-end, drew squiggles/waves diagonally all over the nails. The middle finger's squiggles came out too thick while the other fingers sported thinner doodling. The photograph below is with flash, indoors.

I finished up with the Rimmel Pro Super Wear Ultra Shine Top Coat. I have decided to move out of my sombre comfort zone and do more spring/summer nail looks this year and experiment with paler shades. Stay tuned for the results!
This is my submission for the Nail Art For Nubs link-up hosted by Leticia of Cosmetics Aficionado. Do check out the lovely nail art designs by the other participants.
