Feelunique's Beauty Advent Calendar for Holiday 2017 is themed "The Season To Shine". It costs £35, contains 12 beauty products, of which six are full-sized, and ships worldwide. Five products in here are makeup, three skincare, three hair care, and the one bath and body product.
The packaging is very pretty, though I had some difficulties getting the products out.

Best Beauty Advent Calendars For 2017: Holiday Gift Guide

This year, there are so many new names jumping on the Beauty Advent Calendar bandwagon, right from luxury store Harrods, to drugstore favourite Soap & Glory. Which hopefully means that the brands which previously had Beauty Advent Calendars would have to up the ante and make their calendars better than ever before, right?
LookFantastic has certainly done that this year, as also FeelUnique and ASOS. This ensures that you are coming back for next year's box!
Given that there are now more than 50 different Beauty Advent Calendars out there, I was hard-pressed to narrow it down to 15. So this - calendars which have improved with each year - became a criterion, and I've also included some of the new names, based on the contents.

This year's NYX Beauty Advent Calendar is out for sale, and it ships worldwide. You get 24 different lip products, for £50.
Last year's NYX Advent Calendar - see here - was themed Wanderlust, and had 12 Soft Matte Lip Creams and 12 eyeshadows. To be honest, I would rather have more lippies than eyeshadows.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Holiday 2016 Gift Guide: Best 10 Beauty Advent Calendars That Ship Worldwide

When I was growing up, my Dad and Gramps, both of whom worked in shipping, used to bring home chocolate Advent Calendars, with enough sweets to last until March. As an adult, I am addicted to Beauty Advent Calendars. See the best selections from last year here.
Beauty Advent Calendars seem to be more of a UK-centric thing, though brands in the US and elsewhere are fast catching on. So much so that the LookFantastic Beauty Secret Vol 2 Advent Calendar for 2016 has sold out while on pre-order - a good 24 hours before the release date. See the spoilers here. The 2017 Advent Calendar is available here.
With 12-25 beauty products that you can open each day of the Advent (or for the 12 Days of Christmas), what is not to love? Think of it as a best-of-the-year surprise beauty box. I've been showing you individual calendars over the last couple of weeks; here is the round up of the best ones currently available - they all ship worldwide.

Holiday 2016: NYX Cosmetics Wanderlust Advent Calendar Ships Worldwide

The vast majority of beauty advent calendars - as also beauty boxes - are skincare-heavy, with few being devoted to makeup alone, though there are mixed ones with skincare and makeup, such as LookFantastic's Advent Calendar.
No such concerns about the NYX Cosmetics Wanderlust Advent Calendar. It contains 24 makeup products. One for each day in December, up till Christmas eve.
If the name of the NYX Advent Calendar did not give you a hint of the travel theme - and the contents - perhaps the suitcase-like packaging did?

Ipsy Glam Bag March 2015 review

Floral-themed bag with beauty goodies for Spring.

Ipsy Glam Bag March 2015 review, unboxing, photos

The March 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag is themed "Floral Fantasy" and is pretty. The blue background with yellow, white, grey and pink flowers is very Spring-y. Best of all, it isn't cheap-vinyl. This time, I've got three full-sized products and two travel sizes. Three makeup products and two skincare products. Which is a nice balance.

Ipsy Glam Bag December 2014 review, unboxing

Ipsy Glam Bag December 2014 review, unboxing

My December 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag turned up a day after December was over, which is more than can be said of some beauty subscriptions. Possibly because of all the Holiday mail. I like the black and pink bag sent out this month; it will come in handy for packing a toothbrush, toothpaste and other toiletries that do not fit into my makeup bag while travelling.
The product card informs me that I am a "brave soul". While I wish I could have participated in a bayonet charge or cavalry charge in the 19th century, I'm sure that anyone who has seen my behaviour within a few metres of a lizard will disagree wholeheartedly with the product card's sentiment. There are three full-sized products in this bag.

Lip Factory September 2014 review, unboxing

Lip Factory September 2014 beauty box review, unboxing
Themed "Autumn Arrives", the September 2014 Lip Factory beauty box is quite early in my mailbox - I had been receiving the previous couple of boxes by the end of the month or even in the first week of the following month. For those new here, Lip Factory is a Florida-based makeup subscription box that ships out monthly. You get five or six FULL-sized makeup products, which is why this box is such a win. It costs $22 a month within the US and $32 worldwide, but that is around $5.30-6.40 per product, which is not a bad deal at all. To subscribe, hit their website and do quote my reference number 385650 to get 50 points, which you can later redeem for products or a box!

Read on for my review and unboxing of the September 2014 Lip Factory Beauty Box.

Manicure: Estee Lauder nail polish in Hot Coral and flakie

Estee Lauder nail polish in Hot Coral swatch and review
I'm not a season/trend person and it took me a while to cotton on to the coral-in-summer-2013 trend. But I had received an Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Hot Coral for my birthday and fell in love with the super-fab packaging and the colour. It is my most expensive polish till date.

Manicure: Double dotticure nail art with NYX Sheer Shell polish

I celebrated the arrival of my first set of dotting tools with this mani. Some of you have mentioned that I only seem to use O.P.I. and China Glaze, so I decided to stay away from both this time and go in for NYX Sheer Shell.

Manicure: Ombre nail art with O.P.I. Melon of Troy, Didgeridoo Your Nails and It's All Greek To Me nail polish

I haven't been using O.P.I.'s Melon of Troy much, as I prefer deeper colours and cremes. Though it is a spring colour, I thought it would do for the upcoming week, so on it went. One coat later, a bit streaky, and too pale for my liking.
I can never leave well enough alone as usual, so I was looking for other things to do over it. My Konad stamper is MIA for the last few days, and I didn't feel like the nail pen or shatter. So it had to be my second-ever ombre.
I picked Didgeridoo Your Nails? and It's All Greek To Me. That was a mistake, as a novice like me can't bring out the difference between these colours through ombre. But then I'd probably mess up even blue, yellow and red.
Anyway, the results are here for all to see. How do other people manage to bring out the difference between very similar colours through ombre? I applied NYX Red Glitter over the "ombre". I don't know if the ombre effect even shows up!
